is she serious?!
So I email one of my bridemaids reminding her that she needs to get measured for the dress by mid next month. She writes back saying she is soooo busy and can't she just tell them to order her the biggest size and they can take it in closer to the wedding? The best is she doesn't work so she can't find 10 mins in her day to go get measured??? I am fuming right now!!!

Re: is she serious?!
That's so annoying! If it's THAT big on her, it will look terrible when it's altered to fit her!

Re: is she serious?!
wow really. I would be pissed too!! SHe doesn't even work and can't find time to go get measured it takes all of 10 minutes if you go during a time that isn't busy or if you make an appointment!I have a few bridesmaids that I feel like aren't being very responsive to me too. What is it about asking someone to be in your wedding party, you feel like they are a good friend for years, now it's your wedding and all of a sudden they are too busy to answer an email or go out of their way for 10 minutes for you!

I dont blame you for being irritated also!! Id tell her she needs to find 10 mins or shes out! Thats crazy to pay so much in alterations because she cant find 10 mins. Is she gonna have 45 when they have to alter the whole thing?? Ughh!

Ughh so annoying I would be so mad too, it is just rude and inconsiderate! It's not even worth the stress if she wants to order a dress that is too big than let her. Let her pay for the alterations and/or look stupid at your wedding for wearing a dress that's way too big. Tell your photographer to put her in the back of all your photos!

I work full time, am planning my own wedding (less than 3 months away!) and am in someone else's wedding and when that bride said you girls need to get measured, I went! You need to tell this girl she has to go or shes out!

From personal experience, if the dress is too big they can only alter it so much. I was in my friends wedding 2 years ago and DB ordered me a size 18 and then I lost 45 lbs so the dress was no joke like 8 sizes too big. I took it to a different seamstress and she did the best she could do but it was still held on with safety pins. TRUST me when I say she doesnt want to go through that. Tell her to get her butt in gear!!!

That's horrible. If she doesn't have 10 minutes to get measured, how is she going to have time for alterations.I agree you need to be a little blunt, I would say 'When is a good time for me to pick you up?'

I really don't understand why people agree to be in the bridal party and then pull stuff like this. It's pretty clear that being part of someone's bridal party is an honor and requires work and cooperation. You can't just bask in the glory of being a bridesmaid if you're just going to complain and not help. Cray.

Thast crazy. If she isnt dependable now how is she going to be when you need help with invitations or other things? I would have a talk with her and tell her straight out that you need a commitment from her or you would be happy to have her as a guest. I got into a fight with one of my BM 3 weeks ago and we still havnt talked.....they say the brides is crazy no way Bridesmaids are lolEdited cause I cant spell lol

You are basically giving her 3.5 weeks to get this done, I'd be annoyed too! Sorry hun!

Just playing devil's advocate, but OP said that she was reminding her BM...so it seems as if it's been more than 3.5 weeks. And even so, it doesn't take that long to get measured...does someone really need more than 3.5 weeks to get to a store and order a dress?
I'd remind that bm that if she doesn't have time to get properly measured, it's her right to choose to not be in the wedding.

Yes she has known about this for months now that I wanted everyone to get measured by mid April!
I just sent her an email today reminding her that she needs to get this done within the next month. She wrote to me that she made an apt for April 10th....guess she found some time all of a sudden
