that our RSVP date is 10 days away and they should send in their cards? And to check to confirm that they received our invites? Or should we just wait until the deadline passes.....
invites were mailed 5/17 so they have had plenty of time...
we have most of our RSVPS but there's still quite a few we're waiting on (and i'm not sure if we'll ever get)

most of our missing ones were from FHs side so FMIL sent out a 'just a reminder' email to her side

There were a lot that were friends of ours from college, so I sent them a friendly reminder message on Facebook. It helped out quite a bit, we even found out that 2 people never recieved their invites! But i'm still waiting on a lot from FH's side...

No, they don't get it! My sister has asked me for numbers for my shower because people can't respond! Come on people, you know if you're coming or not!!!

Re: Is there a nice way to tell guests....
We started calling and emailing people 1 week prior (but our due date was 3 weeks before wedding...which was btw PLENTY of time!) But I think we just said rsvps r due next week..and they were like oh yeah! Duhh! Also I told some people we needed a preliminary head count for the hall and for bus purposes. No one raised an eye at all.

Re: Is there a nice way to tell guests....
my rsvp date was last monday and i have been getting at least one response card a day since then. i chose today to be the day to start calling. im going to give a list to my FMIL and mom to call. i sent texts today and suprisingly that was the easiest way to get in touch with many of my friends and cousins. i made sure i gave myself 6 weeks until the wedding so i'd have plenty of time to deal with peoples LAZINESS!!!

wait until a few days after, that is why you are suppose to make it earlier than needed. I would find it rude if you called me. FFIL did this to me with his niece's shower-days before the rsvp and it pissed me off. You gave that day and you need to allow time for mailing-some will mail that day. JMO

not only will you be surprised how many you'll get the last day or two, but also how many you get that are postmarked with the RSVP date b/c they waited until that day to mail them
i wouldn't send anything out until after the RSVP date has passed.
i know you're anxious (i was too!), but just give it a little more patience
