I'm about to sign it right now, but I want to make sure I'm not missing anything major . . .

THANKS!

make sure it states the singers that you wanted in the contract this way they can not switch on you

We also added 'continuous music' where it said the amount of time they would be playing.

Also, make sure you get a pricing for overtime and that price is written on your contract.

Make sure the names of ALL the members you want are in there, not just the singers.

Even if you put that in, they can switch singers. My band did it, but the replacement was good, so I didn't compain.

Yes, we are doing that right now too.

Also, any songs you want them to learn that aren't in their repertoire. Usually they let you have 2 or 3.

Overtime charges, how many will be coming for meal count (including roadies), and what music will play during breaks (piano player or CD).

Ladies - you can put down that you want the same singers or band members - but if someone moves or leaves - they leave!! What we had on our contract was the names of the current band members (when we booked) and a written statement saying that if someone left - there would be a similar replacement. Like - if the band has two female singers and two male singers and one of the men leave - you will still have two male singers. One of our male singers ended up being a different one from when we booked and it was even better because he played the trumpet and he was really cute!

This is a big one! Don't forget or you might have CD's playing!

Make sure they will be on time, know their names AND faces. They can switch people in the band and tell the new person to refer to themselves by the same name as the person in the contract. You have to know their faces!!!!
They should not take more than a 10 minute break if they are only playing for 4 hours. My band said they don't eat at the wedding or take more than one break because they love what they do. (They did snack at the cocktail hour which was fine with us)

DO NOT PAY IN CASH!!!
I know this is difficult but put everything you can on a credit card - preferably an AMEX. Visa and Mastercard do not have the same protections. The one vendor I paid in cash screwed me in the end (florist didn't deliver all the flowers) and we had to really battle to get the money back.

Make note of the volume of music and that they are expected to lower the volume if asked and as soon as they are asked. There really are a lot of bands out there who will refuse to do this on the wedding day and it will ruin the wedding. The do not play list should be followed and they should know how to pronounce your names.

My band members to alternating breaks so there was always live music. Plus they usually take breaks during dinner, not when everyone is on the dance floor.
