Is there really a need for....

Printed Menus?

The staff will tell our guests what their choices are.

I am doing them but as an extra - they're definitely not a necessity. If you don't want to burden yourself with it, don't worry about it!

I don't see a need. Maybe if you have nothing better to do one day or something....

Its just something extra....not necessary IMO.

My hall includes them. Otherwise, I would not have done them. Who has the time?

I just feel like its no big deal and some people make it like if we don't have them it will make our weddings horrible.

No need for me. I am paying for the servers to tell the guests their choices.

I don't think its a necessity, just an added personal touch. I haven't decided yet if I am making them. I have a while still though.

Its not a necessity but adds a nice touch. Then the waiter dont have to come around to each person and say 50 times we have this that and the other. More time for the guests to mingle and dance.

I dont think theres a need for it but we're doing it because I think it adds elegance to your reception and have you ever been to a wedding were either your waiter or waitress didn't speak the same language or the dj was sooooo loud you couldn't understand what your waiter was saying I've been to both and I think it helps the waiter out and keeps the guests from getting frustrated. Exactly what I would say. And I think it helps for the guests to decide what they will be having ahead of time. I have appreciated the menus to the weddings I've been to. It adds a personal, elegant touch.

that's just an extra that the couple can do. we decided to do it to give it a little something extra

I'm printing them on nice Crane's paper...we're doing donations in lieu of favors, so any little thing I can do to make my guests feel 'special' and welcome will be done...plus it's pretty cheap - time consuming, but cheap.

I think its a nice, elegant touch...but in addition, my catering manager told me that it actually really helps the kitchen out and makes the service more efficient b/c the waiters do not have to spend time repeating each entree to each guest. Also, I have been to a few weddings when I asked specifically what the Chicken Mediteraneo (for example) was and the waiter had no clue. So, at least with a printed menu, your guests know exactly what each dish is.

I thought they were a nice touch, but then towards the end, there was too much else to do, so I fIgured, I'd just let the waiters do their job.

I know there are some halls that have more than 3 or 4 choices, so then in that case the menu might be a good idea.

I agree... I'll be making my own most likely

Villa Lombardi's has a choice of 7 entrees, and if I upgrade the cake (which I am), they provide the menus for everyone for free.

i don't think i'm doing them. We have a 3 way choice, i think the guest will be ok without them. the choices aren't going to be to exotic that they'll need a lot of explaining either.

I definitely don't think they are necessary either but we will be doing them because I think it is a nice personal touch. It also looks very elegant-
