is there such a thing as the 'perfect' reception hall?
Original post by LovelyL
I'm feeling a little frustated. Me and my FH have been to at least 20 different reception facilities, and I have not been 100% happy with any of them.
Overall, I love Jerricho Terrace. I think it SO pretty, it's very much my style. I have heard great things about the food and the banquet manager we are dealing with is very pleasant.
However, since we are having a smaller wedding (about 100 people), the smallest room there is our only option. We are worried that it is too small and a bit on the dim side. But, I am torn because I LOVE everything else about the place!!
I don't know if I am being too picky or have unrealistic expectations of finding a place that is 100% perfect in every aspect.
Is anyone else having a similar experience?

Honestly, and this is JMO, I don't think there is such a thing as 'the perfect place'. I think most anyone would find a little bit lacking here and a little bit 'eh' there. Maybe that's just me and the fact that *nothing* is perfect...I didn't put expectations on anything. But we both did know 'the' place when we walked into it.
Personally, I found country clubs and golf courses to be more my style - they didn't give the impression of 'wedding factory' and were more clean & elegant than gaudy. We wanted a place where we could being our personality and style to it - not be dictated by the decor of the place...if that makes sense.
The Hamlet WW could definetly accomodate a smaller crowd (which is something we liked) and it has 2 walls of floor to ceiling windows overlooking their golf course. Their price pp is definetly within your budget.

Yep.. Davenport Avue has a whole bunch of Wedding places on them.. I guess it's a Wedding strip as compared to a Wedding factory.. haha
But all the halls on it look great.

I'd like to go to see Villa Lombardi, but apparently I can't until the 24th because they are booked up with people coming in. Now either all of LI is looking to get married at this very moment, or they only 3 people working for them. Either way it's extremely fustrating. Same goes with East Wind.

MrHostility, those are two very booming halls to have weddings at, and this is a busy season with so many people who got engaged over the holidays, I definitely think they are both worth the wait. Put it this way, THAT MANY people want to see them and for a reason, because they are great places to have a wedding!

Hi,
I also went to a lot of reception halls.
We chose the San Soucci which is a good size fro 100 guests.
My original choice was the George Washington Manor, it was too small for us . 100 people would be perfect. The price was great, the food was great. The place was very nice.
If you haven't already looked there, you should give it a try. It's in Roslyn.
Good Luck in your search.

mr hostility,
i see that you mentioned a more modern look, try the chateau briand in westbury, i think, on old country road...it has an art deco theme, with one room on the main level and 2 rooms on the second floor (no basement option)
good luck
i see you have overshadowed your fi with the postings in this thread...glad to see guys getting really involved with the planning

I have one more suggestion for you guys. How about the Floral Terrace. I'm not sure about how much of a guarantee they may need, but I do know that they do only one wedding at a time. It's worth a shot, and it's just down the road from Jerricho Terrace a bit. Floral Terrace

I do believe there is such a thing as the 'perfect' place to get married....
My husband and I searched high and low in NY/NJ for something that 'suited us', but to no avail.... We were really set on doing it OUR WAY and wanted to make sure we had the wedding of OUR DREAMS!
It took us quite a while to decide, but we ended up having our wedding at a 14th century villa in Tuscany. 78 people came to our wedding in Italy and for us....IT WAS PERFECT!
Don't give up looking until you find your version of perfect!! Good Luck!

Leondards is different than Jericho terrace... I think Leondards gives that 18th century feel it puts one in mind of Newport manisions with the Pictures... Jericho is different... Sand Castle is comprabel... Leonards seems to always make the top three for most my friends.

they do but before you sign the contract...know whatyou want to negotiate.... some plaeces budge more thann others. This process is just like the dress. you know it when you see it and some places are willing to work with your budget and some not....
