is there such a thing as the 'perfect' reception hall?

Original post by LovelyL

I'm feeling a little frustated. Me and my FH have been to at least 20 different reception facilities, and I have not been 100% happy with any of them.

Overall, I love Jerricho Terrace. I think it SO pretty, it's very much my style. I have heard great things about the food and the banquet manager we are dealing with is very pleasant.

However, since we are having a smaller wedding (about 100 people), the smallest room there is our only option. We are worried that it is too small and a bit on the dim side. But, I am torn because I LOVE everything else about the place!!

I don't know if I am being too picky or have unrealistic expectations of finding a place that is 100% perfect in every aspect.

Is anyone else having a similar experience?

Russos is into queens anyway, isn't it? I'd like to keep in Nassau / Suffolk.

Try the Thatched Cottage and Chateau Le Mer.. we didn't go with them.. but they were both a VERY strong number 2 and 3 choice.

The people at both were very professional and friendly and easy to talk to and get long with.

Been to both, thanks for the suggestion. TC was high up, but we heard things about bankruptcy. And Le Mer was terrible, in our opinon.

Terrace on the Park is really pretty.Fh was just as excited as me about it. Great view, and has a really great granite/marble floor. Only thorne in my side is they don't have food tastings. I know their food is great but I would have preffered a tasting, Other than that, it is a fabulous place.

sorry man that those two didn't work out for ya.. you'll find the place you like no doubt.. just remember that besides recption halls, you can also consider a reception on a yacht.. or maybe one of the vineyards out of the east end of Long Island.. just a thought..

whatever the case, have a great Wedding day!

I am getting married at jericho terrace in march, and i know what you mean. I absolutely fell in love with it when we walked in and everyone has been really nice. The food and service is incredible. But originally they were pushing the small room as well and it is very pretty, but i just couldnt see my reception being held in there. Luckily that room was booked the day i needed and they gave me the dome room upstairs for the same price. Only i had to gaurantee 170 people which is way to many for you.

Did you try westbury manor? The small room there is very nice.

Keep looking, if you are not sure dont do it. You want your day to be perfect!

Does anyone think they might drop the middle sized room at Jericho to a 125 guarentee for us? That would be difficult to make, certainly, but it might be more of a reality.

How about Chateau Briand (not sure of spelling?)

I got mareid at Villa Lombardi's, and to me it was the perfect reception hall for me!! Everyone has a different idea of perfect.

I went to Leonard's this weekend. I LOVED it...very Victorian looking to me...chandeliers, murals painted on the walls and ceilings...firelplace in the main lobby...gold-leafed chairs. I felt like I was walking into an 18th Century style Victorian Mansion. My FI said he felt like he was on the Titanic...he HATED IT! They were so reasonable with price. They quoted us under $70 pp on a Fri. night in 2005....and that's including VENETIAN HOUR! Too bad it's too far away from the ceremony location.....

East Wind is really nice and I believe they have a smaller room. I am not 100% sure, you may have to ask the EW brides on here.

I love Land's End. That is where we are getting married. Flowerfield is owned by the same person and I heard great things about it. You can definitely get a better deal in December for price!! I don't know about their number requirements.

Villa Lombardis has great food!!

Under $70? That would be FANTASTIC if we like it. We are actually supposed to go tonight. Wish us luck...this could solve all our problems.

Hi I just read your post. I would highly recommend Chateau Briand or Westbury Manor. The Scotto Brothers really do a great job with thier weddings. If you do a search on thier properties you will see great reviews. Chateau looks like it is the style you are looking for.

We had a similar problem finding the perfect place mostlu because most halls cater to larger affairs. We are having 120. We loved Westbury Manor. No matter the size of your affair all the rooms are equally as beautiful and with in the price range you mentioned.

Good Luck.

You should look into the place we chose. I think it's very elegant and also fairly new - only two or three years old. They are on the vendor board and it's in Plainview. I'll send you FM with some details.

It's up in New Rochelle called The Greentree. We love the place. Looks like the weekend of Oct 16 - 17th is a pretty big one for my FW and me and your FH and you!

Glad to hear it! Congrats!
Many years of happiness!

Leonard's - We were both impressed with the lobby, it was very nice looking. The room was larger than Jericho, a definate plus, but I found it somewhat lacking something. LovelyL said it still wasn't 'the place' and I agree with her. Though we thought the customization of the food choices, and the choices themselves, were outstanding. The pricing for Friday night in November with the Vianese(sp?) table was well within reach. Saturday night was higher than we wanted to go, but we'd consider it.

So it's on to the next. I should write a review book while I'm at it, since I've been to 85% of these places!

Thanks for the Areca tip, the web photo's look really really nice. Though the pp and minimum could pose a problem. I'll give them a call and see though.

OctGroom is that near all the other wedding halls - VIP and Beckwithe Point?

I liked Beckwithe (the prices were too high though even for a Fri night) but I also didn't like how there were 4 or 5 halls in a row on that street. More than one wedding and traffic jam!!!

If I could think of any other places I would let you know but seriously I can't!

I don't know if you would consider Verdi's of Westbury? Let me FM you.
