I think that is really good for the amount of people.

Hmmm, what portion of this is the rental of the facility? If you're not paying for the facility $82.10 pp is REALLY high for a chicken entree/cheese display and wine and beer. Are taxes and services charges included already?

$300 for the facility rental and all taxes and service charges are included.
I can do Beef, pasta or seafood, but I think not everyone likes these so I figure chicken is better???

How much should it be?? The RH is an art gallery

uhm...that may change it, it all depends on how 'fancy' it is. I've seem something similar for $39 per person (Italian Restaurant overlooking Brooklyn Bay), or $49 at a RH in Queens (Villa Russo's).

It's tough to say how much it should be since it's not a standard catering hall. It's not an apples to apples comparison since most of us are hosting our receptions at catering halls.

As a comparison, I'm paying $95 pp (inclusive of tax and gratuities) and will have open premium bar. three carving stations and TONS of other food during cocktail hour. Guests will choose from 7 entrees, dessert and cappuccino course. Wedding cake is also included. I probably left a few things out.

I think it you can get them to itemize the actual cost of the food they will realize you're on to them. For what you are paying, you should at least be able to get a signature drink (vodka based or something) and an additional entree and a couple of additional dishes during cocktail hour.

this place has a very contemporary feel to it. Also there is a stairway (where we'll come down from) and we're staying for the night for free at their hotel.

What do you think?

WOW - you're getting lots of stuff, but how many people are attending your wedding? I was told that the higher the number of guest, the better the deal per person.

I have to agree. The price is good but you are not getting alot with it. I think you can definitely go to another RH and for that price have the full CH, sit down dinner with lets say 3 entree's and full bar.

We have to guaranty 110. We're probably having 130. My minimum is higher because it's a Friday night wedding, Saturday minimums are highest (and priceier).

The best value is a day wedding on Saturday or Sunday or a Sunday evening wedding. I've heard that my RH will require minimums of 65 for some of these. There's pluses and minuses to going the catering hall route however, the biggest plus is economies of scale. Because they buy in bulk(my hall manages 2 separate facilities, a restaurant and a hotel) they buy at discount and can pass the savings on.

If the Art Gallery suits you guys as a couple then definitely go for it. I would love to attend something like that because it's different...I just wouldn't want to go hungry.

If you decide to stay this route you can probably negotiate with them to add a few more items.

Do you ladies have any recommendations for nice non-ballroom RH?? I'm looking for beautiful leather chairs instead of the covered ones....
For 80 people and max of $6500......

full leather chairs? not sure about the chairs. Do you mean just the seat to be leather?

for 80 people I think you can definitely find alot of places that will accomodate you at that price. Have you tried the metropolitan, i think its in glen cove, i might be wrong but hopefully somebody can correct me if i am wrong of the location. Not sure about their prices but i remember some saying that got a great deal.

ALso try Douglaston Manor, the room doesnt look like a ballroom, it has a very different look but very pretty.

I LOOOVE The Foundry in LIC, but I know the rental fee for the room can be high so not sure what the cost would be with food but this is VERY unique and different. Here is their site if you want to call for a quote. Again not sure about the price but can't hurt to try

http://www.thefoundry.info/

another place that is also very different but again not sure of the price is The metropolitan building in LIC, very unique venue. But again just call to see what their prices are like

If you want the $6500 to include tax and tip, I don't think that number is realistic. Without tax and tip, you're paying $81.25 per person. With tax and tip, you'd have to be paying less than $60 a plate to keep the number under $6500. Unless you're doing a brunch wedding, I don't know if you'll be able to find a place for that amount.

In general, the $6500 seems like a good quote but (like others said), you're not getting a lot. It's a 5 hour wedding and you're only doing beer and wine for 3 hours. I know that when I go to a wedding I assume there will be open bar (not just beer and wine) for the full (5 hour) wedding. I think that's what most people assume when they go to a wedding on LI or in NYC. (The only exception is if u r going to a wedding and there are religious reasons why no alcohol is being served.)

Re: is this a good quote for RH

I dont think its unrealistic. There are ALOT of ladies who are paying $75 per person at a regular RH with full CH, and choices of entree's. Of course the time of day and day of the week and month will also make a big difference. There are some girls who even have paid $65 pp.

Re: is this a good quote for RH

The entre and cheese display is $50.00 with all tip, tax, etc. What is pricey is the alcohol. This chef has been featured on USA today, Esquire, Food and Wine, NY Times. So I think the food will be really good. I do agree that I should get at least open bar for 4 or 5 hours.

I my budget for the entire wedding is $13000. So I have to stay on budget with the RH.
KYBride09 Posted:

Re: is this a good quote for RH

here is the price list for the alcohol:
Full Bar-
$20 first hour per person
$14 second hour per person
$10 each additional hour

Wine and Beer Bar
$18 per person
$12 per person
$8 per person

I think this is really expensive, but she won't do it for less.

Do you think people will be dissapointed with 1 hour of cheese display + 3 hours of beer and wine + one entre??
