Currently I am registered at Crate n Barrel and Fortunoff. I went into those stores today to pick up the registry inserts for my invitations. The lady at crate n barrel told me it was not customary to put the inserts with the invitations and it is usually done only for showers and engagement party. She said if I put them in the invitations it is considered in poor taste. Is this true? This is the first I'm hearing of this.
Thanks for your input.

Re: Is this a myth?
I have never heard of putting the registry cards in the wedding invitation. As far as I have heard, it IS in poor taste.

I agree.. seems greedy.. its supposed to be word of mouth ( basically your mother and FMIL are supposed to spread the word to people who bring it up! )

I agree. It is customary to put the registry cards only in the shower invites.

Re: Is this a myth?
I chose not to. My future mother in law wanted me to put the cards in the invites but, I felt uncomfortable doing so. I did not put them in. If your guests want to find out where you are registered, I am sure they will ask your family. ETA: But, it is your wedding, and you can do want you want. That is just MOP.

Never include it in the wedding invite. Some people condiser it to be in poor taste for the shower invites as well and that any registry info should be spread by word of mouth. I won't be including them in any invitations, but it's up to you whether or not you want them in your shower invites.

Thanks girls,
This definitely got by me. I had no idea it was such a big no no. I shall take your advice and do without the cards.
Thanks again

Re: Is this a myth?
they are suppose to be for shower invites... also if people are invited to your shower, then they'll have that card and can get you a wedding gift from there if they want....

Re: Is this a myth?
I've heard no for the weddind invites. I've never heard no for the shower invites, but I guess word of mouth is better. However,as a guest, I've appreciated them in cases where word of mouth didn't get to me.
