is this a wedding dress 'lie'???

Original post by prunepie

i need to know if this is true or not.
went today for the first time to try on dresses.

found one i reallllly like..but was told that each week they get a list of dresses that are going to be discontinued..and there is no way to know week to week what will be available or not.

meaning..you like it... buy it now.

i do understand sales people try to get you to buy now..but is this a lie to get the money today..or is this true??

btw it was david's bridal.

i truly love the dress..but i would also like to look around to make sure.( side note. this weekend is a 6 month free interest card plus 15 percent off accessories if you buy a dress)

please let me know asap :) xxoo jenn

It's true they discontinue however they give them notice so that they get all their orders in.

I think it's a lie.

I ordered Bill Levkoff BM dresses from an independently owned store for my May 2004 wedding back in Sept 2003. I was told 'you made it just in time because the gown is being discontinued'

Well, I was just browsing Macy's yesterday and they are still selling that SAME gown

When I found my dress it was from the Fall 2002 collection. Bridal Reflections practically begged me to order that dress that day b/c it would be discontinued anyday now. That was in March. I looked on the Alvina Valenta Website just now and sure enough the dress was still there! I would say it is a sales tactic! I did not order my dress form them by the way.

i don't think its a lie or a sales pitch. i ordered my gown from burtons and they told me the same thing, b/c the dress i loved was private label and the woman said that 'sometimes' they get discontinued. i ordered it then, b/c if for some reason it did get discontinued i'd lose my dress.
