AAAaahhh! That is waaaaayyyy too much! Our's total was around $3200.00. It included a lot more than what you're getting, and our photographer was awesome! You can get photos even cheaper, but the quality goes too! I wouldn't pay that much IMO. Spend that extra money on your honeymoon or something! If you have any other questions let me know!

Re: Is this an normal price for a photographer?
I think that is to much too. I am paying a total of $37000 for video and photos ($2500 for photos and $1200 for video). With my photo package, I am getting my parent albums included. IMO I would research other vendors.

It seems very high. I was just quoted $3000 for photo and video package at Duet--includes album and 2 parent albums. My brother just got married in Sept. and paid about $4100 for photo and video at ADA Studios, although i'm not sure what they're getting--I know albums are included, but I'm not sure what size or how many.

These are the photo only prices that I have gotten 2000 3200 4400 3000
All of these include bridal ablum at least 36 pics, Thank yous, 2 parent albums, and a mixture of prints. Two of those (2000, 3000) include 2 photographers as well.

Photo price vary A LOT but the most I've seen for a parent albumn was $250. I went to about 10 before I made my decision.

Re: Is this an normal price for a photographer?
$500 for a parent album?? It had better talk and be lined in 14k gold for that price! I only looked at 3 photographers and none of them priced out like that. Do some more shopping...

That price sounds very high to me. I think we paid a total of $4000 for both video and photos. I paid a little extra for photos after the wedding b/c I wanted some more pictures for some of our family members.

Re: Is this an normal price for a photographer?
When all is said and done, we're paying about $5500 for our package. Compared to other photographers used on this site, it's kind of high...But we absolutely LOVE their work and photo was #1 to us (along with music & food) so we were willing to pay for it.
Like someone else said...it depends on the type of photography you're interested in and who (reputation) you're using. You need to be comfortable and confident with your choice.
they customize what ever pkg you want so you get what YOU want and what you can afford, although i never heard of the bride getting one price and the groom getting another
But check them out you wont be sorry look at all the Patken users on this site or see their website.
good luck

Re: Is this an normal price for a photographer?
Afternoon Eliz...I'm a firm believer that there is a difference in a number of studios. If you went to a Manhattan Studio, that would be the normal price for actually both the video and photography. There are studios located out on the island which do charge less the price you received. Some are exceptional and charge below value and some charge too much. So, to me it sounds reasonable coming from a Manhattan studio (I'm assuming that's where the price came from since it's not named in the post). So if some brides say you got ripped off, they are only basing it on the price rather than physically seeing the product.
An example for you: Some may feel that when you order a steak at Applebee's it's the best. Whereas some feel the Smith and Wolensky offer the best steak. I myself love Moran's. All have different prices and all have their own original flava and way that they are cooked. They are also priced differently. If you're at Smith and Wolensky, would you argue with them on their price? Would you claim that Applebee's only charges $14 bucks for their steak?
Anyway, just running it by you.
Jill
By the way, sounds like a JoVon price quote.

yup I agree it sounds like JoVon but there pixs are beautiful. I also think that there is no such thing as too much because this is the only way that you are going to be able to savor the day that u have spent so much time and money on. If u splurge, this is one area to do it in!

Re: Is this an normal price for a photographer?
i will say that although jovon's prices may be a little steeper than others, i absolutely fell in love with my photographer's work at jovon and wouldn't go with anyone else after seeing his (theirs). it's all a matter of what you want. i knew what i wanted and made sure i got it. well said jill. ets: if it is indeed jovon you are talking about, if you are serious about going with them for both photo and video, call them back and explain it and they will negotiate a price with you. they won't tell you that upfront, but will if they know you are serious. good luck!

Re: Is this an normal price for a photographer?
I paid $5500 for my pictures which included 70 pictures for my album (5 B&W), 2 parent albums (36 pictures each), 150 Thank yous, 7 8x10, 1 11x14, 1 Portrait which is like 22x30, a couple of others. It also included all proofs (about 500 pictures) and the negatives. It depends on the package you get, and the actual photographer you choose. My video was 1900 - 10 hours.

Re: Is this an normal price for a photographer?
There is no 'Normal' amount. It depends on the photographer, their reputation, and the quality of what you will receive. We're paying more for albums b/c we chose silk albums from a premier album maker. There are much cheaper albums too. Totally depends. Some photographers will do your day for $3K, others are $100K. Depends.
