Is this appropriate

Is this appropriate

I have a pair of beautiful diamond heart drop earrings that an ex-boyfriend gave me. I never really wore them because they are so elegant that I never had a good occasion to wear them. Would it be in appropriate to wear them on my wedding day? They would be perfect wedding day earrings.

I would have to say that yes, it's inappropriate. I have a feeling your FH would not like it if he knew who the earrings were from. Maybe you can trade them in or sell them and buy something else w/o the history?

I wouldn't wear them... If I did that my FH would be really mad at me on my wedding day!

Pawn those earrings and buy nice new ones w/o any memories of exes!

I wore a ring from my ex on my right hand. I wear it all the time and don't usually take it off. A piece of jewelry can be just that.. a piece of jewelry. Just because it came from your ex it doesn't have to have sentimentality attached IMO.

Thats what I really wanted to hear. Actually my mom had brought it up and had me thinking about it. (she always really like them) But I knew in the back of my head I really didnt want to wear them. I think i will try to sell them and then buy something else i can wear on my wedding day.

Thanks guys!!!!

I still wear a bracelet my X gave me. I always have several different white gold bracelets on, and his is one of them. Its just a piece of jewelry that I happen to still really like. I dont plan on wearing it on my wedding day, only because its casual. If you really like the earrings, and FH wont mind, i say why not?

I think that's a good idea - to try to sell them and get something else in it's place. I understand that jewelry can JUST be jewelry and you may never even think or care about where it came from, but i have a feeling that it wouldn't be that way to your FH. I, personally, don't consider myself a jealous girlfriend. I trust my FH completely. But I remember not so long ago, his ex's mother wanted to give him her old hot tub that she was getting rid of. I don't know why, but i was REALLY not okay with it. At first FH just thought that I hated hot tubs. lol. But then I explained that this connection to his past girlfriend (because i know they hung out in that hot tub back when they were dating a million years ago) just kinda stung a little. That's the same reason why i always answer NO when people ask if they can be friends with their Ex's. That's only ok if you're both still single. But once you're in a real relationship, it just hurts the other person.

So, yeah, try to stay away from any connection an Ex (ESPECIALLY on your wedding day). FH might not admit it, but it hurts him I'm sure. That's MY advice at least.

jewelery can be just jewelery, but i dont think i would want to wear them on my wedding day. I have some really nice stuff from my ex and i just cant wear it anymore...
Why not take the stones and make them into something else instead?

if they make you think of him, I wouldn't wear them. That's the last thing you want, lol. If they are just jewelry and you don't even think twice.... who cares:?

I agree!! Get rid of them!!! Why would you even want to think for your ex even for a second while putting them on your wedding day? I think its bad news- and your FH would be upset if he found out.

really depends on how you FH feels... some may feel mature enough to move past it and not be bothered.. but then on the other hand its your ex.. maybe sell and buy something else.. Start new.. with your new Husband!

I was talking with my Dh about this, he said he wouldnt care. But it really depends on how your FH feels personally. I would ask him about it, if he dosent like it, then buy new!!

Maybe you'd better ask FH. If he's never seen them, he might wonder where you got those fancy earrings and if he has and he knows where they're from, he might have an issue with it.

If my FH had gotten say, cufflinks from his ex, I would definitely not want him to wear them on our wedding day. Then again, I have issues with his ex aside from her just being his ex so I may be a touch more sensitive than normal.
