Is this pompus?

Original post by beatle06

My older sister (married 5 years ago).. thinks that it is pompus that i want to run a 2 minute video clip of fiance and i of pics through the years, and then filming us at the beach. is this pomus OR 'vein' as she put it? sometimes i can't stand her and shes MY MOH. She is very jealous that I will 'outdo' her and that my wedding will be better in some way shape or form.. she's not genuines happy for me and always says-- its just one day. (there are other issues here but i just want to validat that there is nothing wrong with showing a video CLIP of ourselves.)

No offense, but I went to a wedding where they did something very similiar and most of the rest of the wedding felt that it was slightly if not very vain. It was all the table atlked about for the 15 minutes following and then days after....sorry, but you wanted honestyI hope...

Maybe a photo collage at your sign in station might be less ostentatious.

So....what did you decide to do????

Nothing yet, I would like to use a photo montage or a video clip.. i remember at my brother's wedding everyone oohhhhed and ahhhed b/c it was memories and pics of them as children (it was a different situation since my sis in law's sister died at age 20) anyway I'm not going to make a decision now. I still have plenty of time to think about it.

Thanks all for your opinions I appreciate it!

So many people do this...I think it's a really nice touch!

I recently attended a wedding where the videographer put together a slideshow of pictures of the bride and groom and also put in pictures of the ceremony, bride and groom getting ready, etc...It was so nice because we got to see some things that guests wouldn't normally see...(Like the bride leaving her house with her parents, etc.) Everyone at my table loved it!

We went to a wedding where they had a picture frame out in the lobby where they had the place cards set up and the pictureframe/pictures were set to soft background music. The pictures of the bride and groom went through the ages - as they grew up all the way to just before the wedding. The frame was about 8x10. It was a big hit and really sweet.

What people were saying was that they thought it was way too vain and unnecessary.

The montage put together at the wedding by the videographer/dj is a different story (the couple had this at the wedding also) it tends to include people there dancing and stuff..it wasn't all about the bride and groom. It's funny because this couple had this whole video thing about how cute they are and stuff...but they barely stayed with each other the whole night and the groom had to be found to dance with his wife to some of 'their' songs. Maybe this is why everyone at the wedding thought it was off-putting also..

God, I really hope that I don't sound mean in my saying it is vain...I just think that you should really let people enjoy you as a couple right there at your wedding laughing and dancing and holding hands...etc.

So it's a video of still pictures.....
It's your wedding YOU do what you want. It's not a 'vein' thing. Obviously you want to show everyone how happy and in love the two of you are and how it's been through out the years..........

I agree! It seems like something nice to add and you should do it! Don't worry about your sister, I am sure you are right about her but there is nothing you can do, she will get over herself.

I plan on doing this as well, but I've made sure to include photos of each member of the wedding party, as well as as many friends and family members as possible. People like it when they see themselves...plus it shows them how important they are to us.

Abosolutely not! I think thats very unique. In fact @ my sisters wedding reception we used that idea as a surprise, and everyone thought it was great, especially the bride and groom b/c we used their baby pictures as well as them through the years....And another thing don't let ur sister get to u w/ her not showing interest remember its one day, but its'UR One Day'(she had hers)

I don't think there is anything wrong with this! My friend did it, but she included pics with guests and it was a big hit.
