I'm going to see all the grooms men, their wives and others that will be invitated to the wedding this weekend and I want to give them all their invitations.
FH says that it is tacky to do that and that i should mail them regardless. But why should I mail them when I will see them on sat?
Is it tacky to hand deliver wedding invitations? I hand delivered to our neighbors but shhhh I didn't tell him. ohh shhhhh
UPDATE Chicas...thank you, thank you, thank you for your responses..it was great reading them and gave me the oppt. to think things through. So i decided to stay up all night last night and put together all of the invitations, address the envelopes and get them ready for the post office in the morning. I decided to mail them. So I'm working on 2 hrs sleep and have a long day today. luv u chicas ur the bestest

Re: Is this really tacky?
IMO I would mail them. I think it is nicer to recieve an invite in the mail. Also they might feel like they have to open it in front of you....
I just had to hand deliever an invite to my great aunt b/c it came back to me in the mail and she refused to open it in front of me.. apparently thats a big no no

Okay 2 months ago I would have said NO you HAVE to mail them but 1 million people said oh why didn't u just give it to me...then some got lost and those people said oh you should have just given it to me ....then there was the issue of ALL that postage I paid and people handed me rsvp with the stamps on them and didn't mail so I now say...
JUST HAND THEM to people.

I don't think it's tacky, I think with close friends and immediate family you can get away with it. I plan on hand delivering to my coworkers should I have the need to invite them at all.

see...ok I'm not totally off. I know i had to order a second batch of STD's because i had the so called 'mine never came in the mail' STD's were inexpensive so i didn't mind the reordering and resending. The invitation on the other hand, that was expensive and I'm nervous about the 'it got lost in the mail' type things.
ohh this is tough.

Re: Is this really tacky?
i think it reallly depends on who you're hand delivering them to? like i would totally do that for my sister or best friends.....but not so much for people i'm really not close with. keep some 'formality' to it. then again, if it was 'socially acceptable' i'd have everyone rsvp to our wedding website!! but alas, we haven't come that far yet!

Ohh screw it, if the person's a close friend do it! I hand delivered to some family and BP and they were soooo excited not to have to get it in the mail!

I would mail, b/c I'd be afraid they would misplace it if given to them at a social event.

Re: Is this really tacky?
I would hand deliver them! In times like these we need to save as much as possible. Even if its a few cents. They are in your bridal party so they are close to you andd FH. If you mail it to them I guarantee they are gonna ask you why you didn't just give it to them. And the post office does F-up with the mail sometimes....

I would just give it to them. I'm now dealing with people saying to my mom oh she should've gave them to you instead of mailing or i didn't get mine. Also you don't have to worry about stamps...lol..

Re: Is this really tacky?
I personally would mail them. We had 2 invitations that had to be hand delivered at the recipients request (don't ask) and 2 that had to be hand delivered because FH felt uncomfortable asking for his boss' addresses, and it totally erked me to death! Even though they were hand delivered I still put postage, I didn't want anyone to think we were hand delivering because we didn't want to pay the postage, lol!

we hand delivered our invites only to immediate family. now that all is said and done, we probably should've hand delivered to the rest of my wedding party(my friends and fh's friends). if people are close enough to be in bridal party, I assume they are close enough to have their invitation hand delvered without judging you as tacky.
ETA: I had MANY people hand deliver their RSVP even though their was a stamp.

I truly don't think so...I was hand-given a wedding invite before, not once did I think it was tacky

Re: Is this really tacky?
I hand delivered most of them, and could care less if people thought it was tacky.. lol
a family friend told me she felt more important having it hand delivered. its like a gift, or like in the old days a real important invitation to a ball or something.. lol We heard from most people that it didnt matter, no one really cared and most people liked that it was hand delivered.
besides people kept handing me the rsvps, wasting my stamps.
