Is this really tacky? Update

Original post by cedesnyc

I'm going to see all the grooms men, their wives and others that will be invitated to the wedding this weekend and I want to give them all their invitations.

FH says that it is tacky to do that and that i should mail them regardless. But why should I mail them when I will see them on sat?

Is it tacky to hand deliver wedding invitations? I hand delivered to our neighbors but shhhh I didn't tell him. ohh shhhhh

UPDATE
Chicas...thank you, thank you, thank you for your responses..it was great reading them and gave me the oppt. to think things through. So i decided to stay up all night last night and put together all of the invitations, address the envelopes and get them ready for the post office in the morning. I decided to mail them. So I'm working on 2 hrs sleep and have a long day today. luv u chicas ur the bestest

I hand delivered most of them, and could care less if people thought it was tacky.. lol

a family friend told me she felt more important having it hand delivered. its like a gift, or like in the old days a real important invitation to a ball or something.. lol We heard from most people that it didnt matter, no one really cared and most people liked that it was hand delivered.

besides people kept handing me the rsvps, wasting my stamps.

either way though, i would do what you want

IMO i think mail is the classier way to do it, but it's your world, you're the bride, however you want to do it is good!

I sent an invite to my FH frat brother that lives in our building, he said the same thing, but i that's how i feel and in the grand scheme of things, the postage you'd save is a few dollars.

I personally am mailing all mine.

If they werent like my CLOSEST friends I would mail them but if these are like your best buds I don't think they will think anything less of you or think you are tacky for just giving it to them...

I say its ok for your bridal party and parents. Anyone else I would say mail them.

I would mail them.

Not only is it appropriate etiquette, but if you hand deliver it, I think you look cheap. It looks like you're trying to skimp out on paying the $1 (or whatever) to mail them...yet you're going to expect them to be generous with a gift.

It's not tacky at all. If you are going to see them, just hand deliver them. I hand delivered about 20 invitations and I was very happy that I did because it saved money on postage and I was assured they did not get lost! The people that I see often that I mailed them to also said I should have just given it to them in person.

IMO I think you should mail them. THe invite is the first impression of the wedding. If you want you wedding to be a formal affair then mail.....otherwise I think it feels like any other event....but like I said its just my opinion.
