When FH and I got engaged, there were two things we really wanted for our reception.
1.) To have a breakfast brunch, rather than a dinner reception.
2.) For it to be in a location that overlooks the water.
I am having a heck of time finding ANYPLACE that satisfies both requirements. Is it really that unusual?
I've contacted several places, and they say that they 'don't do that' (breakfast brunches). I know Sans Souci does it (but it really too far from my ceremony location). Captain Bill's doesn't do it. Three Village Inn 'might' do it (have to go talk to them). I found two places that actually have breakfast brunch wedding menus, but neither is on the water.
I've tried to convince FH to decide which is more important...the food or being on the water (because right now, being on the water isn't important to me anymore). Right now he is not willing to forego either 'requirement.'
I feel like this...
Am I crazy? Am I asking for the impossible?

try Atlantica- I believe they usually have a sunday brunch (or at least they used to)...maybe they would be willing to do it.
Or maybe the Harbor Club in Huntington, if that's not too far for you.

Well, it doesn't overlook the water but it does overlook the park... FFIL got married at Terrace on the Park (Flushing) and had a breakfast brunch.
I was contemplating that location for myself but my older brother quickly stomped that idea and said 'No sister of mine will get married with a view of Shea Stadium!!!' He is a die-hard Yankee fan. I can still beat him up though.
Terrace on the Park is a nice place though. I always liked it. And you are close enough where you can take pictures in front of the unisphere from the World's Fair.

It's not on the water but the Roslyn Claremont Hotel might be able to do it. We're having a post nuptual brunch the morning after our wedding. So maybe they could make it a nuptual brunch for you?

You might also try Glad's Restaurant at the Crab Meadow Golf Course--it sort of has a view of the sound (it's actually kind of neat, overlooking first a bird sanctuary and then the beach). I'm trying to think of some others--but good luck. I think your idea is a great one and hope you are able to find your dream place!

Danfords has delicious brunch food and they have a private reception room with an amazing view of the harbor.
You might also have luck looking at waterfront restaurants as opposed to reception halls. Some will let you rent out the restaurant for things like a brunch reception. I can't recommend a specific place on LI, but I know that some do this in the Washington, DC metro area (where I live).

You can try Harbor Club or Thatched Cottage. I think they both have water views. Some of the town beaches also have restaurants on the water. Good luck.

Why don't you make it his responsibility to find the place then?
What am I talking about...that will never happen!!!!

I think it's a great idea. If you like Captain Bill's you should push them on this - I'm almost positive that my cousin's daughter's christening party was a brunch there.

How true. He spent a couple of hours one night looking online and you know what his suggestion was? Tellers Chophouse in Islip. So I said to him, 'Umm, that's not on the water, and I doubt they do a breakfast brunch.'
I emailed Danford's to see if they would do a brunch. I also emailed Chateau La Mer and they do brunch weddings -- $45pp, minimum 75 people.

I just went to the EXACT thing you described at Russo's on the Bay for FH's cousin's wedding. The CH was a hit... fresh fruit, eggs, muffins and of course mimosas and bloody mary's.
I second Russo's on the Bay. I think the video shows the breakfast/brunch wedding with omlette stations and such.

Did you check with Chateua La Mer? THey're right on the water and I know they do all kinds of parties and events besides weddings, so I can't see them not be able to do a brunch wedding.

Harbor Club in Huntington or TimberPoint CC
Check them both out!
The Riverriew and Snapper Inn are also good choices

How about captain bill's in bayshore? I am not sure if they do a brunch, but they are on the water and not too far from the lighthouse.
