Is this really unusual?

Original post by frosty

When FH and I got engaged, there were two things we really wanted for our reception.

1.) To have a breakfast brunch, rather than a dinner reception.

2.) For it to be in a location that overlooks the water.

I am having a heck of time finding ANYPLACE that satisfies both requirements. Is it really that unusual?

I've contacted several places, and they say that they 'don't do that' (breakfast brunches). I know Sans Souci does it (but it really too far from my ceremony location). Captain Bill's doesn't do it. Three Village Inn 'might' do it (have to go talk to them). I found two places that actually have breakfast brunch wedding menus, but neither is on the water.

I've tried to convince FH to decide which is more important...the food or being on the water (because right now, being on the water isn't important to me anymore). Right now he is not willing to forego either 'requirement.'

I feel like this...

Am I crazy? Am I asking for the impossible?

Did you try Chateau La Mer? It's really pretty and on the water and they do alot of parties besides weddings so they might do a brunch.

Have you tried Giorgio's out in Baint Hollow? It's like 5 minutes from Eastwinds. They have a great brunch and they are very accomodating. I'm sure you can work something out with them.

And I focused my attention on looking at 'alternate' places, not the regular catering hall type venues. That's how I found the two places that have the breakfast option (Courtyard Cafe in Ronkonkoma and I just see where Maine Maid Inn has it as well).

I think your brunch idea sounds great. On the water would be so pretty. Too bad you're having such a hard time. Maine Maid Inn used to be really good. We had two rehearsal dinners there (for my brother's wedding & sister's wedding too) It was great.

im not sure but you could try calling the harbor club in huntington- it meets your waterfront cruteria - but im not sure about the brunch part - they have been very accomodating for us though - so maybe they would be able to do it for you
