Is this rude?

Is this rude?

If you look at this post......please answer.

Is it rude to invite people to my wedding now. Even though my RSVP was the 12th. We are below our minimum, not by much.....but maybe 10 people or so. What do you think?

it depends who.... you could invite coworkers for example and say that you really wanted to invite them but were limited in space so you had to wait to hear from family before you could invite them, but that you really hope they could be there etc

its all about how you do it

Well originally I had told coworkers I was not inviting anyone........they I invited a few & now I am still short.
I just invited my new neighbors since we just moved into house in Jan. I am sure they would be ok.
I just don't know what to do about work. Should I just let it go?

I agree with lila. It's a touchie subject. I'm personally against it, but I was completely disagreed with last night by both my mom and fiance. They both think a B List is fine for peripheral ppl. I say handle it like lila said and you should be fine.

I knew a friend who was under her minimum what she did was had a few new invitations printed with a later rsvp and sent them out. I think its kind of rude but if they didn't know when your rsvp was than maybe you can get away it. To ask guest now is like saying 'your second best'.

Yes, I kinda agree. MY FH will not invite any of his work people because of this reason. If we knew we would get so many No's then he would have ahead of time.
So be aware ladies who have weddings near holidays......you may get a lot of NO's too..but I hope not.

Wellll since you made a point of saying you want ppl to answer, I'll be honest..
I think it's a crappy thing to do. If your wedding is only 3 or 4 weeks away, it's going to be obvious that you're inviting people that weren't good enough the first time around. I'm inviting about 50 more people than I expect to be able to make it. If they all say yes, great. If I wind up below my minimum, then that's that.

I dont think it is rude...well it depends on who your inviting.

Re: Is this rude?

I have a 'B' list and that's really because of the cost. Although we got a great price for our RH we are still on a tight budget and only have enough for about 80 people. We have about 100 in total that we want to invite. That being said, since we are doing the invites ourselves, i will be mailing out the first set (which consists of mostly family) by about the second week of November with a reply date of about the 2 week of December. That way who ever cannot make it from the first set, i will then have enough time to mail out invites from the B list with a response date for about the 2nd week in January. That way no one will know what list they were on and no one should be hurt by it.
Unfortunately for you, I don't think there is enough time to do it now. As a guest i think I would be a little put off by the late invite. I think that you should just forget it and see if your RH may be able to throw in some extra things to make up for the difference.

I actually think it's a bit rude. Going to a wedding is a big expense...and I wouldnt want to go and spend all the money for someone who didnt include me until they needed to fill spots. I totally understand the situation you are in...but i think you should just pay for the empty seats and hope the RH will throw something else in for free! : )

I feel you would need to explain the situation to the people you invite. Personally, I don't think I'd do it.

I don't think it's rude because that's exactly what I did.
Everyone at work was very happy that they got invited. They all came with the spouse too!

ETA: YOu should do a poll. Most ppl will click but won't type.

If you are going to invite people so close to the date you should get new RSVP cards printed. It is really close to your wedding date and people may think it is rude to get an invite with an rsvp date that already pasted.

I think if you invited someone who didn't know when the RSVP was such as coworkers, I think it could be okay. I mean it definitely is a touchy subject as everyone has said, and I guess it depends on how you go about it, but if you send out a few invitations with a later rsvp to people who don't know any differently, I guess it could be okay.

Thank you all for your opionions. I appreciate it.
We overinvited totally. We invitited 229 & only have about 140
We were shocked!! I guess many families cant come because kids in school & the economy. We never thought this would happen. It is what it is!!

The hall can't add anything else cause we have top of the line. We included everything already. We will just add the vendors to fill spaces but if we reach 150 then after that vendors were half price...oh well.

Looking at it from your guests' POV..I think I would feel a little insulted, knowing that I had been invited as a 'last resort'.

Re: Is this rude?

I dont think its rude at all. People understand how pricey weddings can be and they will know that you just were not able to afford to invite them. Definitely take out the RSVP card which shows the date. I agree with Lila in letting them know that some family you were expecting to come will not be able to make it or something along those lines. You can also act like you dont know any better and just give them the invitation late bc 'you just assumed they were going to come' and realized with the running arounds that you had never received their formal responses.
I really hate lying BUT when it comes to weddings sometimes you have to have the little white lies bc people can get very easily offended.
