Re: Is this rude? Coming to my party by boat???
Honestly... I have no idea about boat etiquette but I wanted to tell you that I saw your pictures and it looks so cool and so pretty. I was actually fairly jealous! I would only venture a guess that the 'look at my boat' thing isn't much different than someone pulling up to your party in a fararri like 'ooooh, look at my luxury car'. Tell them there is something wrong with the dock and they can't do it if it makes you upset. A little white lie to get what you want for your party is ok.

I dont think it's a big deal either. If you do have the room...and they told you in advance...then i think it's fine. Obviously, if too many people want to, FH will need to tell the others there is lack of space. But if you live on the water and they want to come by boat...i dont think t's any different than coming by car. JMO

I agree that the phone call at least would be courteous.

I would feel like they are trying to overshadow you/the party and make this grand entrance.

I can kind of see how that would seem a bit annoying to you -- I mean they just assumed its fine and all, and of course your FH like a typical guy sees nothing wrong with it.
If there is room, I wouldn't freak out -- this is one of those things that in the grand scheme of things, not a huge deal. Just let your FH know that those 2 are the only ones allowed to do the boat thing, because you don't have room.
If its REALLY bothering you, maybe tell them you'd prefer if they didn't come by boat, especially if they are going to be drinking at the party and you don't want them to be boating while drunk!

That's kind of the thing is that they didn't tell us in advance now or for the housewarming and we don't have enough space for 3 boats and we are using our boardwalk for other things and he doesn't want to be rude to them but now we're going to have to split gazebos and tables and stuff if we aren't using the boardwalk.
I'm confused. How do you know they are coming bo boat if they didnt tell you or FH?

She lives in this area, same exact set up with the lot across the street from the house, I actually saved the photo from her party to show FH.
Thank you :)

That's exactly how I feel! Plus like I said we were using the boardwalk to set up food and stuff and now we need it for people to get on and off of their boats and we're going to have to ask the neighbor if we can move our boat next door and the kayaks to the backyard.
If this is the case--then I would tell them they are not allowed to come by boat.
Now this is inconveniencing you and you need to use the boardwalk/dock area for the party -- that is a good reason to tell them they can't come by boat!

Because he says they never come over without coming by boat and because they just showed up by boat for the housewarming and he had to scramble to move things around because he didn't want the boats too close to one another, etc.

Well at the time I wrote to her and asked what street she lived on cause I thought it might have been my block or the one across the canal from me, not too many places look identical like that!

Re: Is this rude? Coming to my party by boat???
Now that I know I'm not being a bridezilla and yeah it really is screwing things up I'm going to have his mom call his godparents to chat since she talks to them all the time and casually mention that we're using the boardwalk so we can't have boats and he'll have to call his friends and just give them a heads up that the boardwalk is being used.
