I have been having such a hard time with picking colors let alone a theme for my wedding.... I find something I like and then I doubt myself for some reason...I have got to be the most indecisive bride to be on this site!! Fh's cousin told me to wait til I go bm dress shopping to pick out the colors.... what did you guys do? How did you pick the colors you are having??

Re: Is THIS supposed to be the biggest decision?
our hall and church basically inspired our colors and theme. Most halls have colors that don't go with everything... some are really gold, others green, or blue... ours has a nautical color scheme, so we made sure nothing would clash with it....

Re: Is THIS supposed to be the biggest decision?
I was getting married in Jan so I knew that I wanted to do a crandberry color dress. So for me it wasn't that hard. The hardest part was actually picking the girls dresses.

I had some trouble with it too. I think it's nice to match fabrics... like, if your dress is satin, it looks good to have the BM dresses also in satin... colors can be very limited based upon the designer and the fabric. I might end up going with a champagne or other neutral color so that I can really mix it up with the flowers... then you can include all the colors in the bo-ks and cp's you want!
One other thing... I know some brides go for black bm dresses and then each bm has a different color rose bo-k... and it all symbolizes something different... like you give yellow to your bm who is always smiling and happy, pink to the glam girl, etc. Just another idea... you'll figure it out! Let us know how it ends up!

You don't need to have colors or a theme ahead of time. Heck, you don't need to have a theme at all - I sure don't.
I picked the colors after choosing the BM dress. I went with the color I liked best in the dress I liked best. I made my flowers match and anything else match around that.
Don't stress. You don't have to have a theme or 'wedding colors'!

It's kind of hard, I was first with blk white silver with red accents then FH and I spoke and we decided to go with champagne, ivory and gold. Find a color you like and do some research on the internet to see what colors may compliment it.
The knot has an article about colors

My bridesmaids always joke about how much I love food...So it was no surprise that food inspired my wine and cream color choice. Fate was sealed when me and my fiance went to WM and their colors (and monogram) match ours...
That is my favorite cake!

FH picked my colors. I was rattling off a list of things involved in planning and when i said colors he said what he wanted. I was like ummm ok. (and that is probably the last time he will give input lol)

i suggest you look through magazines and pictures and see what color combinations jump out at you. then you can narrow it down. i picked baby blue, platinum, and white. blue is my favorite color, and i love how platinum compliments it. and every wedding has to have white.

Re: Is THIS supposed to be the biggest decision?
its definitely hard... this was the first decision I made because I wanted EVERYTHNG to coordinate with my colors. I changed my mind a few times, and eventually settled on Turquoise as being the main color. I'm sure if I had mroe time I would have changed my mind again..there are just sooo many color combinations that I love. I think the first thing to consider when chosing your colors/theme is what kind of overall feel do you want to achieve? I wanted summery, fun, and not too formal.

Re: Is THIS supposed to be the biggest decision?
I picked out my colors based on my CP's. I knew I wanted different Cp's (not floral) AND I was getting married in late summer....so I thought:
hmmmm, what fruits/veggies could I use to decorate CP's in August? I thought 'LEMONS AND LIMES!' And that is how it ALL began.....

Re: Is THIS supposed to be the biggest decision?
I really wanted my bridesmaids in green, but it was equally important to me that my girls all be happy with the dresses they were wearing.
I managed to get all 5 of my bridesmaids (3 from CT, 1 from MA, and 1 from RI) down for a weekend. I booked 5 appointments at different shops and then let them all agree on a dress. Sure enough, at place #3 they all fell in love with a dress. Unfortuately it didn't come in green. I ended up with the color 'Ruby' because it was the only other color appropriate for fall besides Plum, I am not a purple person.
I then got a swatch from the boutique and brought it to my florist. We worked from there to make sure all the flowers matched.
As for a theme, I found it really difficult to plan a wedding around a specific theme, so I just used what I liked.
