is this tacky??

some of our guests let us know that they would not be able to make the wedding when they got their save the dates. (they called us or emailed us) is it tacky to not send an invitation to them? fmil does not want them to feel obligated to send a gift, but i want to make sure that i don't look like an idiot by not sending them an invitation even though they received a save-the-date...

Maybe you could add a personalized note to those few people and tell them that although you know they may not be able to attend you are sending them an invitation just in case.

That way they will understand that you know they may not come since they told you but still you extend the invitation so they do not feel left out if they change their mind.

You should still send them a gift regardless of their plans. Maybe their plans changed between the STDs and the invites. You should extend the offer to them

We sent an invitation to those that told us they couldn't make it when the STDs went out. They could change their mind.

i would still send the invite as well. they might feel snubbed otherwise...i have a cousin who is going on a 'second HM' the week of our wedding...i still invited her knowing she would not come. it's just polite.
