I want you honest opinions so I am not saying which one of us (FH and I) suggested this so you do not choose sides.
We are on a strict budget and we have our rehearsal dinner set to the penny. I am currently not working at the moment and we have very litt=le help from elsewhere. Yesterday, one of us had to tell someone who asked if they could come to the rehearsal dinner no.
Today one of us suggested that an extra person can come but split a plate with another person.
Is it this tacky to have three people split two plates at a rehearsal dinner at a country club.
Thanks for your help and I know this is a little wierd.

Re: Is this tacky?
Yes. I think it's tacky. It's one thing if you go out to a restaurant and aren't that hungry anyway so you split a plate. It's another thing to expect people to split a plate at a planned dinner when everyone else has their own plate. And I don't know if the country club would allow it anyway.
If these extra people aren't in the bridal party, or otherwise taking part in the ceremony, you don't have to invite them to the rehearsal dinner. It's a nice thing when you can invite out of towners and BP partners, but it's not necessary. I think people will look at you strangely if you do it.

One: I fon't think the club would allow that
Two: I asked FH and he said it is tacky (his words not mine!)
Good Luck, people should understand that weddings are expensive enoug w/o all the add-ons everyone wants you to add/spend!!!!!

I agree with Debra. It just doesnt sound proper and if these people arent part of the BP they dont HAVE to be invited to the RD. I wouldnt do it if I were you..JMO

Re: Is this tacky?
Unfortunately, I would have to say yes. It would be less tacky to ask the other person to pay their way.

Re: Is this tacky?
It is definitely tacky if you are doing plated meals, is there a way that you can do family style instead of plated?

Re: Is this tacky?
Yes, I think this is tacky. The rehearsal dinner is not an integral part of the wedding. If the guests are going to your wedding reception then that is enough. Only the bridal part, close family and sometimes, OOT guests go to the rehearsal dinner. Everyone doesn't need to go. I would not spilt dinners between guests!

Re: Is this tacky?
The hall won't allow it and yes - it's incredibly tacky.
It's also tacky that someone asked if they could come to the RD. You were right to say no - just leave it at that!

Re: Is this tacky?
You can't ask people to share. Just invite one fewer, or, if it's really important that the person be there, just suck it up and pay. I don't think that's going to be a huge part of your budget anyway. OR, is it too late to find a different place to have it that's more affordable?
