I wouldn't... if people want to get you an engagement present they will either buy one on their own or ask you if you've registered.

Re: Is this tacky?
just a little tacky. i don't think that is a good idea. people sent me engagement gifts before I even registered. If they want to buy something for you they will explore to see if you are registered and where.

Re: Is this tacky?
I think it depends.
I put the registry info on my wedding website and then put the address on my STD.
BUT, there were a few people that my mom INSISTED I send the registry info with the STD. They're OOT people and she doesn't plan to invite them to the shower. They're her guests....actually her sisters, so I let her make the call on it. It was about 5 people. But they were the only ones that got registry cards.

I wouldn't do it. Honestly, I do think it's kind of tacky.

Re: Is this tacky?
I think it is tacky. In my experience, when we got engaged the people who wanted to get us gifts asked me or FMIL where we were registered or just sent us checks.
If anything, I think you should put your wedding website address (if you have one) on the STD. From there, put your registry information on the website so people can find out the information on their own.

I think it is tacky... sorry, I would look at it like you are looking for gifts. If people want to get your something they will ask for your registry info or just send you money.

Re: Is this tacky?
very tacky IMHO. Make a wedding website and list it your registry info on there... i think if you put the regsitry info in the envelope with the std, it looks like you are asking for gifts and some people may take it the wrong way- i know i would.

Re: Is this tacky?
My Fh and I did not have an engagement party, BUT what we did was sent out Engagement Announcements! Yes I think it would be a lil tacky to send out those cards! is it too late to send out announcements? ur wedding is not for another year or so! think about it, we got alot of presents (unintentionally) just from sending out the announcements

its ded tacky to send out the cards. I feel that its almost asking for people to give you a gift.
