Is this tacky?

I do think that's rude...but I also think it depends on where it's coming from. If she's a really good friend, try not to be offended. She's probably just envious!

When people ask me something that I feel uncomfortable about answering...I LIE! It makes it fun and you get to see how far it goes!

I think it depends on who asks. I sometimes get embarassed when certain people ask who have rings that I know are much smaller... because I feel like they think I am shallow. I know a few of my FI friends asked him and they were like your carzzy, blah blah blah.... Meanwhile I know people whose rings are the same or more. I think it really depends on who asks.... People are always going to have soemthing to say. To each his own

Cat4580 is sooooo right. I dont really think its a big deal if someone asks me (and people have), but the quality of stone, not the carat weight, determines the value.

The most important 'C' (according to any reputable dealer) is the cut. BY FAR. The best dealers cut for brilliance, not carat weight.

Carats are obviously important b/c people arent going to whip out a microscope and detemine the quality, but a good diamond will SPARKLE like mad!!!

It's all about the sparkle!
