Is this tacky? I heard an old friend of mine is...
Original post by BellaEyes
having her wedding in an all white theme.. and her BM's dresses are white as well.. Does anyone think this is cheesy? I don't think it's such a great idea.. but I hear that's what she wants..

Not tacky at all. I went to a summer wedding, and the BM all wore long white dresses with thin light blue ribbon bow. I think they had light blue shawls. very simple and pretty.
To each their own.

Isn't that called a 'snowball' wedding? I think it could be really beautiful.

it wouldn't be what i would choose but i would never upon hearing the idea think it was 'tacky' ... just unique.
i've seen celebrities and other people on tv have white weddings before-- i thought it was nice but personally i would want something different.

I def would not want that. I think BMs should be seperate from the Bride...I would incorporate another color....

That is definitely something I would not want. But it comes down to preference.

i wouldn't call it tacky, but it's not something I would've wanted for my wedding.

It's called a 'snowball' wedding and I think it looks beautiful - Someone I worked with back in college had one and it was so classy and diffrent...they all looked stunning standing in front of the church in white..good for her for stepping outside of the 'norm'

i was going to do something similar. i was going to do what they call a 'snowball wedding' being that my wedding was in the winter i wanted to do everyone in ivory. but not the flowers.
however i ended up not doing this. but as for being tacky i dont think so.

I went to a wedding like that and they called it a 'snowball wedding'. It was actually nice, but not what I would want.

My FSIL had an all-white wedding. They called it a 'snowball' wedding. I saw the pictures (I wasn't with FH then) and it definitely wasn't for me, neither the color or style of the dresses, but it was what she wanted so that was all that counted.

Certainly not tacky! I've seen pictures of weddings like this and I think it's actually quite beautiful.
Why does it matter to you what color her bridesmaids are wearing?

I went to an all white wedding and it actually looked really pretty. It depends on the setting though. The one I went to was outside , nice and sunny. It seemed to fit.

My friend that's getting married in December is doing all ivory...she and all of her maids and the moms will be in ivory. It wouldn't be my choice but I think it will be beautiful!
If Diddy has a white party every year...so can us brides!

My friend had BM's in white and they had really hot punchy flower colors like fuschia, purple, orange that made everything really pop. It was gorgeous.
I plan on having an ivory gown and my BM's dresses will be ivory and champagne.

I think it can be very beautiful, and, of course, to each her own....
Just a little history lesson on bridesmaids:
The tradition of having bridesmaids began to confuse 'evil spirits' so that the bride would not be cursed on her wedding day. For that reason, bridesmaids originally wore the exact same dress as the bride. This eventually evolved into the BMs wearing the same dress as one another instead of everyone wearing the same dress.
Here's a pic of an 'all-white' wedding that I think looks quite lovely:
