And I told her it wasnt formal enough and she doesnt have to break the bank but she is the MOTHER OF THE BRIDE and this is a Friday night wedding. She should wear something more formal.

I dont think it's too casual at all, it looks great! She can dress up a dress like that too, depending on her hair, makeup, and what shoes and jewelry she wears.. How does it look without the jacket over it?

I agree that its too casual- tell her to try nordstroms.com- my mom found some beautiful dresses on there for MOB that were really reasonable- about $190-$400. hth

i don't think so... but it depends on how formal your wedding is. a vineyard wedding she might get away with it.
tell her to look at estelle's.... my mom got a gorgeous dress there for less than $200

Kathryn check this collection out. My mom got her dress here, but it was discontinued before i saved a pic of it!
I asked my mom why she just wont get a regular MOB dress and she said she doesnt like the way they look.
Maybe she hasnt found something that looks good on HER..
Has she tried anything on? I would have her try some of those on...my mom is short and pear shaped with bigger arms and she found a dress - and tried on a lot of those - that she was comfortable in...we had trouble choosing one bc there was alot of contenders!

Oh, my fmil is having the same issue with her arms...from the picture, the dress seems to have a lot of detail and beading (I don't know if i'm imagining things) and it seems to be irridescent, and if it is, I think it'll be fine...but obviously i'm in the minority

I tend to agree....I think if she feels beautiful in it and it's iridescent, it would be ok...if she's happy that's the most important thing!

I don't think it's too casual at all, in fact, my mom wore something very similar. Above all your mom needs to feel beautiful and comfortable and I think the dress is just fine

i agree its not for the MOB, maybe she can llok at macys.
my FMIL found a dress at macys for $ 179.99 but she got her senior citizen discount and one of those coupons where you scratch off and she got the dress for i think $130.00 and the dress is really pretty
