Is this too much for RD?

Original post by BlondeJD

The place I want to have the RD at is quoting me $75pp for a sit down dinner w/choice of 3 entrees, salad, passed hors d'oeuvres, dessert, and beer/wine/soda/coffee. It's in a private room. There's a $3000 minimum, so we would be inviting at least 40 (we were thinking we'd have more like 50-60 though). Is this too much? What is the 'usual' per person price for a RD in a private room of a restaurant? Thanks!

You are too funny...it is a special momentus occasion. I guess in comparison to the price you are paying for your wedding, it's not THAT MUCH! Everything is relative..or too many relatives!!!

Like, 'Thanks for coming, I'm Jenn by the way. You may remember me from the ceremony--I was the one in white.'

That's pretty funny! I understand completely how you feel--even though we are not including anyone but the BP and our parents.

that sounds like a lot of money for a rd. I know people who paid that for their wedding. where were you thinking of having it?

FH's grandfather, who contributed $$ earmarked for the RD, is all about leaving the OOT guests to their own devices. He said, 'Just give them the name and address of some local restaurants and send them on their way.'

It's this place called Macmenamin's Grill. It's so convenient because it's right off of 95 and 1/2 block from the hotel where we blocked rooms. It's got a very loft/industrial feel which I really like. Macmenamins Website

I am spending $56 pp.. plus alcohol, for 40 people..

I think 75 is a bit high as well- unless it includes booze-- even then, you can shave off a couple of bucks..

Did you book the Ramada in New Rochelle? Do they have a restaurant you could look into? What about one of the places at New Roc City? Also look into Juliano's. It's a small catering place and I believe they're quite reasonable. If you want to do something casual, you can check Spectators. It's a sports bar, but since you're having some many people, you may want something more casual so people can mingle more.

ETS- would you be willing to go into White Plains, or is that too far?

nferrandi--Thanks for the suggestions! I actually did call the Radisson/Ramada (whatever it is ) but their banquet manager is out til Friday. Hopefully, they'll be more reasonable in price.

I don't know exactly how far White Plains is, but I was hoping that I could keep everything close to one place so that people might not have to rent cars or have to figure out transit schedules.

I think thats too high for the RD. We paid less that that and our RD was in Manhattan!

For me, it's too much for a RD. It's like paying for another wedding.

That sounds like an awful lot of $$$

We had our e-party at Timberpoint Country Club with a ton of food and open bar and it was way cheaper than that . . .

IMO $75 pp is really too much for a RD

If you can do it and you really want it at this place, then you should do what makes you happy, but I would really think about it . . .
