The person in charge of hotel blocks is only in on Tuesdays, so I spoke to her last Tuesday and told her what I needed. I needed 13 rooms booked for my Bridal Party and 30 additional rooms blocked off. She said ok, she was going to do it, but then she never got back to me.
I emailed her today and said:
I spoke with you last week about blocking rooms for my November 13, 2010, wedding. I just thought I'd drop you an email today since I know you're in on Tuesdays. I was just wondering how long this process usually takes? Since we have a very larger number of guests, we'd like to get our hotel information out as soon as possible.
Do you think that's too pushy or too soon? But I mean, really, it shouldn't take weeks and weeks for rooms to get blocked, right? You all pretty much got it done immediately? I can't actually pop in there on a Tuesday since it's in CT.
ETA: I sent it, and she said she would send my contract out right away. I must say I wonder if it would have been sent if I didn't email her.

i don't think it sounds too pushy. I would probably change the sentence to:
I was wondering how long this process typically takes and where we are at in the process. (it's then a period, not a ?)
I would then add to the end 'I look forward to hearing back from you either via email or telephone later today. For reference, my phone number is ::::::::: '
Thank you and we look forward to working with you,

Not at all. Just bear in mind that they might be swamped for the holiday/new year. But if by the end of next week you do not get a response you should definately call her to find out what the status is.

Re: is this too pushy
it took my person a day or two to send me the contract and whatnot for my hotel block ... this was done about 2 weeks before xmas. it def shouldn't take this long,
i do agree with some of the other girls that your email sound a bit pushy ... it's ok though, when people don't do their jobs on time, you need to start getting a bit pushy!
good luck with this slow lady!

NOT pushy at all!!! i had this same problem with a hotel and i lucked out bc i called a hotel right next door and it turned out the woman i spoke to there was the other woman's manager and got on her about it! i sent way meaner emails to her than yours! i think you're definitely fine!
if you don't hear back today then call and ask for a hotel manager and tell them your situation!
