Is this true? (Dress question) UPDATE more ??

Original post by AmandaLynn04

A friend told me that when you go dress shopping, you are allowed about an hour in the store, and they let you try on about 6 dresses.

I have my first appts. this Saturday, and I hope this is not the case!!!

Re: Is this true? (Dress question)

Unfortunately, until next month (when I am finally done at the worst job ever) I can only go on weekends.

So, if the search is still on then, I will definitely go during the week when I'm sure it's not busy.

I think I will make an appt. at Lillette's after I see how it goes this weekend!

Thanks again girls!

(P.S. I am fully prepared for the David's bridal BS, I have heard all about it!!)

Depends on the place. Lilettes let me try on several, as did Carmela's Bridal Garden. I didn't feel like I was being timed.

I have never heard of that before. I was always at the stores for more than an hour.

both times i went to lilettes i was there for about 2 hours and i tried on a ton of dresses. im sure it's true for some places, but not for all! if you go to lilettes, make your appointment with gerri, she is the best!

I LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVE Gerri! SHe was so HELPFUL... She figured out the style I was going for and brought me like 10 dresses to try on... She also knew my budget and stayed within it, knew that I was hoping to buy something off the rack and totally accomodated me... I just made my first payment on my dress (bought off the rack) yesterday!

She even sent me a thank you card for coming into the store.

A++++ for Lillettes and Gerri!!!

They really treat you well there...

the thing with David's and bigger corp dress shops is their people are just staff... I suggest you go into a small bridal boutique. These people are trained to cater to your likes, dislikes etc etc and will really give you some help and great advice...

You dont necessarily HAVE to buy it from them... Just go into a small shop, find a dress you like, try it on and then search internet sites like RK Bridal and buy from there! (Thats what my sister did and saved a ton of money)

VOILA!

I went to a bunch of bridal salons, the only place that did this was SAKS, they said they only do 1 hour appointments, but then I went there and was there for over an hour and a half, soo I think it really depends, I would just ask when you book the appointment. and goodluck shopping!!

It depends on the store I guess because I heard that when I was shopping too, but never experienced it and I went to a ton of stores and tried on a TON of dresses! I wouldn't worry too much..and have fun!! good luck!!

I've been to a couple of places and that hasn't been the case...they let me try on as many as I want and didn't rush me out.

Davids in Lake Grove and Bridal Suite of Centereach.

I went to both of those places and thats not the case for either one. See if you can get Mary when you go to Bridal Suite. She is an absolute sweetheart!! Thats where I just bought my dress from on Tuesday! Have fun!!

I do have an appt. with Mary in Centereach tomorrow!

Okay, so, just a couple of dress questions, this is my first time.

Is there anything specific I should know? Anything I should / shouldn't ask?

TIA!

(I'm actually getting a liltte nervous!!!)

I always asked if they cap alterations. I also asked if they could remove something on my dress that I didn't like. I asked if they had a matching veil that goes with the dress. I wanted a cathedral veil. Hope this helps.

TY, that does help, I would never have thought to ask a couple of those questions!
