Hi Girls, I wanted to re-create this picture. I contacted someone who makes the signs as a side job and she replied back with this, but the point is that it is 29 bucks to make the sign. Is it worth it? Or is she right to say that the results will matter if I just did it myself?
Thanks for your opinions!
Hi Stacy!
Thanks for contacting me. I am charging $29 which is $25 for the posters - plus $3.85 for shipping priority mail. I think that is a fair price since it is a lot of work. For my wedding, I downloaded some fonts (like Angelina- the one I used), then I measure it to fit on the boards, blow up each letter - print it out one at a time, cut them out, trace them onto the posterboard and then paint it in with black acrylic paint - 2 coats. I have seen some brides simply use marker on the posterboard for their picture. My opinion is that the more time you spend, the nicer it will look. I am charging for my time - ya know?
I personally think that you should do it yourself. She basically gave you the instuctions. You can get the black acrylic paint at Michael's and do it all yourself. I think it'll be just as nice plus it'll save you money.

Re: Is this worth it?
Hmmm... good question.
I would see if you had the time to do it and see if you could do it. I would also look at your expenses and see if you could spend $30 for one or two pictures....
It's more of an opportunity cost question that you need to answer... sorry that I'm no help really
I would definately try to do it yourself. Maybe they make big stencils and the paper cant be that special. I would try that first.

In all seriousness, I say do it yourself! Save money wherever possible is my motto!

Personally, I would do posterboard and a sharpie and if it costs you more than $ 8, I'd be surprised.

Re: Is this worth it?
It just looks like posterboard and marker to me. JMHO. 30 bucks seems a little ridiculous if you ask me.

What about going to a MinuteMan or a printing place like that, if you don't want to make it?

Oooh, oooh! I have an idea. Why dont you throw another GTG and have us girls come over and help you make the signs. I had planned to do the same thing, so can I borrow the signs when your done with them? We'll split the $$$ for the crafts!!

I think you should do it yourself. She didn't really have an explanation for the cost excep 'her time ya know?'

Defintetly looks easy enough to be able to do yourself. $30 seems a little high to charge.

Oh man! Anyone can sell anything in this industry, and totally rip people off! I say do it yourself, flaca. Get a girlfriend to help, it will be fun! I guarantee this will not take you longer than an hour.
Anyone want to start a wedding business with me?

Re: Is this worth it?
I'm planning to do this for our Thank Yous. We bought posterboard and stencils at a craft store for like $5 and are doing it ourselves.
(I've been looking for this picture to show FH though--Thanks!)

I agree with everyone... do it yourself. She gave you instructions, and it seems pretty easy. You have over a year to put it together...
