Is this worth it?

Hi Girls,
I wanted to re-create this picture. I contacted someone who makes the signs as a side job and she replied back with this, but the point is that it is 29 bucks to make the sign. Is it worth it? Or is she right to say that the results will matter if I just did it myself?

Thanks for contacting me. I am charging $29 which is $25 for the posters - plus $3.85 for shipping priority mail. I think that is a fair price since it is a lot of work. For my wedding, I downloaded some fonts (like Angelina- the one I used), then I measure it to fit on the boards, blow up each letter - print it out one at a time, cut them out, trace them onto the posterboard and then paint it in with black acrylic paint - 2 coats. I have seen some brides simply use marker on the posterboard for their picture. My opinion is that the more time you spend, the nicer it will look. I am charging for my time - ya know?

She sorta has a point, that marker won't look good, but that doesn't mean you can't do it your self. I would probabay spend the $, b/c I don't have the time to do something like this, and $29 seems small in the grand scheme of things, but that's just me.

The computer part doesn't seem neccessary. You could probably just do it in pencil free hand if you have nice writing or know someone who does, or maybe you could buy large stencils somewhere & trace them, and then use the acrylic paint.

We are doing this as well, and we had planned on going to a printer to get ours done, I would spend money, not sure about $30, but, my time is precious to me, so I am not sure if I would spend the cash, we have not checked out the printer yet....that will be the determining factor.

I would do it myself. Especially since she gave you the instructions. Find a cute font, bl;ow it up a couple of times on a photocopier (a free one at work would be preferred) cut it out and trace it onto the poster board. Fill in with black paint or marker (I think paint might be better). You could even personalize it with your new name: Thank you! love, Mr & Mrs FlaCaTaca

You should try Pearl Paint on Canal street- they have great stuff!

I just finished these!! I printed it out on my computer on regular and took it to Kinkos. They put it on ivory poster board, which they cut down to this size and even added a little pumpkin stamping at the bottom for me.

I used a different font which matched my invites, but same process.

It cost me $8.00 ($4.00 a word.)
