My sister hates surprises AND hates being the center of attention. There was no way on this earth that I would have put her in the spotlight as a surprise. I told her exactly when her shower was (just not where) so she could be prepared for the spotlight of being the bride for the day. She was perfectly fine with it.
Each bride is unique, and should always do what is best for her!!

Not wrong of you at all, in my opinion!!!
I HATE surprises, so I asked my girls to not surprise me...not to mention that I'd be suspicious the months leading up to the wedding. Plus, I wanted to be dressed nicely, you know? I wanted something smaller and more 'me', so it was at my SIL's house, and I often go to her house in sweatshirts, so I didn't want to be wearing that.
They should respect your wishes, in my opinion. They can surprise you with some details at the shower if they still want to surprise you!

Not at all. In the past year I've been to 4 showers, and none of them were surprises for the bride.

Re: Is this wrong of me
I knew when and where mine was...my mom even sent me an invitation...she did it that way 'cause I'm OOT so she was afraid that if she tried to pass it off as something else I wouldn't show up but I very much prefered it like that....I don't think its wrong at all

Re: Is this wrong of me
everyone is unique, personally, I told my bm's and family that I DON'T want to know anything about a shower...I don't care if I walk into it in sweats and no makeup. I want it to be a total surprise....every person is different.

I don't think it's weird at all! Mine was not a surprise. I knew who, what, where, when, and how. I don't like surprises either. To each her own. Do what works for you and don't listen to what anyone else says if it goes against what you know is right for you.

Re: Is this wrong of me
I am not having a surprise bridal shower. I just don't really see the point since many brides know it's coming and all. Also, I live at home and I'd much rather be a part of the planning and I think it would be hard to keep it from me, so my Mom and I decided no surprise.

my personal preference is a surprise. This way I don't have to be involved in any of the stressful planning!

Re: Is this wrong of me
I keep on telling my sister (MOH) that I do not want my shower to be a surprise at all. I don't even want it to be a fake surprise where she tells me when it is and I just act surprised. I don't like being the center of attention at all either. I would rather just be there when the guests arrive.

not weird at all. I didn't want mine to be a surprise but there were things that my BMs did that I didn't know about, like the games and favors and decorations, etc...all i knew about was the time, place and food.

Re: Is this wrong of me
I preferred that mine wasn't a surprise. I was so stressed out between a humoungous wedding and moving so close to the wedding. I actually planned out the date of my shower with my sister (MOH)

Re: Is this wrong of me
Someone told me that outside of NY, people do not have surprise bridal showers. You're better off knowing anyway because so many times the surprise is ruined and the bride ends up sad.

It would be hard to surpirse you. I have been to a few showers that have not been a surprise. It's not a big deal.

You know you are going to have one, so don't feel bad that you stated your preference. Some people hate surprises other people LOVE them! I just don't think I would give anymore input or suggestions after that. They are probably so excited to throw it for you.

Not weird at all. I don't want ot be surprised. As far as I'm concerned, if I don't know about it I may have stuff planned for that day, so yes, I'd like to know. I don't want to be involved with the planning & stuff but I want to know the date.
