Fh's parents aren't contributing to this wedding in the slightest bit, in fact, they've been downright rude when we try to get them involved in the planning process, not even paying, we're not the type to stand there with our hands out. Now that we're looking at invitations, we plan on putting my parents names in the invitation but not mentioning Fh's parents at all (i.e Mr & Mrs Doe invite you to the marriage of their daughter to bla bla bla). Is it wrong to not put them on the invitation at all?

I think it is okay to not mention FH's parents if they are not helpful and have not contributed.

No it is not wrong at all. And if they ever make a stink out of it just tell them you did it the traditional way.
I know people who's In-laws contributed and they didn't inlcude them on the invite -- they kept it traditional.

Re: Is this wrong of us?
normally i say that both parents should go on it. It shouldn't be about how much they give for the wedding bc they've done so much for us period and they shouldn't be measured based upon contribution to our weddings. BUT if they are being rude about the wedding, then that is different. Do what feels right to you

Re: Is this wrong of us?
I would just put their names but do it in a way like 'son of blah blah'
In the long run you don't want this to bite you in the a$$. Plus this will give people something to talk about and the last thing you need right now is drama. I know your madd and upset with them but reality is that they are your IL's. Just my opinion.

Is it ok to warn the other guests not to stare directly into FIL's eyes or they may turn into stone?

Re: Is this wrong of us?
I had this question too b/c my mom is paying for the wedding alone. The few things we have asked fh's parents for they n't given like a unity candle & bible. when it came down to it we put their names on b/c my mom wanted it that way. i felt good that the response cards com back to my mom , you know?

I think it is your responsibility to put that warning on your invites....They need ot know staring at her is hazardous to their health!
FHs parents arent on ours either

I don't mean to sound obnoxious but what really bothers me is that they do have the money to contribute and refuse to. If it was a matter of them not having the money I would be the first one to understand, my family has financial issues too and I certainly did not expect them to help out with the wedding. But relating back to what you said, it is more their attitude than the money but everything kind of relates to each other.

Exactly! I was going to put it in between the directions and the RSVP cards. People should know!

Re: Is this wrong of us?
traditionally who ever hosts (pays) for the wedding goes on the invite.
even though FH and I are paying for the entire day, we are putting both their names but that was our choice.
you should do with what ever you and FH are comfortable with

Re: Is this wrong of us?
We're including FH's dad even though he's not contributing, but we are not putting it as if he is hosting either. We're wording it like this:
'Mr & Mrs XXX request the presence of your honour at the marriage of their daughter Blake to John son of Mr. XXX'
So it basically says that my parents are hosting but still mentioning his father's name as well (his mom passed away). Other then doing it out of respect (his dad is great so of course we wanted to include him), we also did it so that people on his side who don't really know me will know who's wedding it is lol. Since his last name is not on the invite anywhere I can just imagine some old Aunt he never sees getting it and being like John & Blake who?? LOL Just a thought.

Re: Is this wrong of us?
we're in the same boat, although they ask about the plans they never offer any suggestions or any money but we decided that we will put fh's dads name on the invite just to be nice
but i dont think there is any reason for you to think you're doing something wrong, it's all preference

thanks! I actually was going to do the invites without their name without a second thought but I told someone at work what I planned on doing and her eyes almost bulged out of her head and she told me it was wrong and that's when I questioned the decision.
