Is Wedding Cake Cheaper when....

Is Wedding Cake Cheaper when....you buy it some where else besides the reception hall. because how about you know you like a specific cake and you want that one? or if you take away the cake from the reception hall will it be cheaper?

The way my reception hall works is they send us to the Rolling Pin in Setauket to pick out the cake we want... I would imagine that if I went in randomly to that same bakery and ordered a wedding cake from them it would probably be more expensive, Im sure the bakeries have a deal with the different reception halls, otherwise why would they use one bakery over another? does that make sense?

eta: However, if your hall is charging you extra for your cake, and it isnt included in your ppp, then I would call around because Im sure you could probably find a better deal some where else...
