Is your invite time and actual start time different?

Original post by Bridex100

We were thinking of putting 6:30 pm on our invitation so we can start the ceremony promptly at 7pm.

What are you doing? Put the actual start time on the invitation?

We put the actual time, because we were doing it with or without them....

mine is the actual start time, if someone isn't there, then too bad for them! lol. Mine is at 9:30 am, so I can't keep making it earlier for people who don't know how to be on time.

Mine was a half an hour before and my synogogue offered hospitality during that time with food and drinks. I had a piano player. It was very nice and it allowed everyone to be seated before I made my entrance

what about if ur geting married at a church? is it still accpetable to do this?

No.

I also don't think it's appropriate if it's at a RH and you don't provide anything for your guests in the interim between the time they were told to arrive and the start time of the ceremony (champagne welcome or pre-cocktail hour or something). Most people were early to my brothers' weddings. I can't imagine how they would have felt if they just had to sit in church for 45 minutes waiting for the ceremony to start.

Most of your guests will be on time, and none of them want to sit around for half an hour thinking you're just late to the wedding. Also, the church I'm sure does not want you doing this (and I'd not do it without checking first). There are probably other events going on throughout the day, and if you're the first, the doors may not even be unlocked, yet. Besides that, they'll still be setting up for your wedding when guests arrive half an hour before your start time.

There may be another wedding just being done and they are changing the decor, etc.

thats a good point about the doors being locked and/or another event going on.

This is an interesting thread. FH and I have been going back and forth with this one as well. We want to put a half an hour earlier because we can't really trust some (not all) of our family and friends One of my BM’s did this for her wedding which was two weekends ago and some of the guests were mad because it was early on a Saturday morning (around 10:30am). But then their were many guests who started strolling in around 11am, which was the actual start time. I know we are doing it with or without them, but call me a bridezilla if you will because my thing is that if you can not bother to make it to on time to witness the actual ceremony, then don’t bother coming to the reception because I do not want to see you there. FH says I am being harsh
