Isn't $135-$150 asking alot for guest to pay for a hotel?
Original post by rendel
The few hotels that are near my RH are expensive for guests and they want me to block 10-15 rooms in order to get free shuttle service. All my friends had rooms for like $100, what's the deal?

i booked a hilton for $129 per night and rented their shuttle for $300. It only holds 14 peopple but they make unlimited trips so to me its worth it since buses are much more expensive. FM me if you want more info

I think I found the hotel, it's the Hampton Inn in Garden City it's only 8 minutes away from WM and the suites are huge!!!! they are enormous, so it's perfect for the girls and I!!!!! The Hampton Inn in westbury has no suites, but gave a good price. Oh, and the woman that helped me said that they have a taxi service that they use for weddings, she said they charge something like $5 a head and it's a shuttle van!!!! I'm def doing that!!!! WM girls and CB girls you should check them out!!!!!

I lucked out. My RH was having a stimulus package showcase so the recommended hotel (Hamptons Inn Islandia) is only charging $99. If we book 10 rooms we get the shuttle free with 2 trips there and 2 trips back. If we don't book it, the shuttle will be around $200. We also get our room free if 10 rooms are booked.

i wouldnt stress over the rate. the way i see it is, the hotel rate is something you cant control. You block rooms, and if people want to stay at that hotel, they can. its their choice. if they feel the rate is too high for them, they can choose another hotel to stay in, and find their own form of transportation. im sure that if enough rooms arent booked for the free shuttle, you can pay for it, either using the hotels shuttles or finding your own, if thats something that you want to do. But providing transportation is a nice gesture, but certainly not required.
we are blocked at la quinta, at i think $149 a night. with complimentary breakfast in the morning.
ITA. Since I'm getting married in Queens but all other events in the city, our room block is $250/night. Certain people didn't want to pay that so they did their own thing, finding AAA or corporate rates that I couldn't offer them. Nobody can be annoyed--I did my work, if they guests want a cheaper hotel, it is their responsibility to look.

Ours is $149 per night, this includes breakfast. It's right next door, so it's perfect.

Mine are $159. You're not ASKING them to pay...if they reallyc ant handle it, they can always find another hotel to book a room at.
