Isn't this all so overwhelming?

I'm starting to realize that finding the DJ and the florist and the reception site and the photographer and the videographer and the limos... that's the easy stuff. But I keep getting a little panicked every time I think of the little stuff, like making the petal cones, the invitations, the crying packs, the programs, the monograms on the cakes, the menus, all the PERSONAL stuff. Does anyone else agree? I think I'm just afraid of DIY projects... and I am SO impressed with what others have done, I'm afraid mine will look like crapola. .

you're not alone!

hiring the vendors was the easy part for me! it was all the little details that were a royal PIA!! BUT... it was WORTH IT!

The details are honestly the hardest part but in the end, even though I was the only one that noticed, I loved them :)

That is so true. The favors, menus, place cards and holders, all the little things are definately more time consuming.

You'll be great!! And if in the end you decided not to do all of them, that's fine, too. There's no rule that you have to do everything in order to have a wonderful wedding.

At the time they do seem overwhelming - all the details. Up to the last day I was dependent on my lists - but it's all worth it. I can't tell you how huge my smile was every time someone would comment on the menus or the programs. But like the person above said - whatever you decide to do will be perfect and if you decide not to do something along the way - that will be perfect too. I changed my mind so many times and even at the end I decided against some things - and took on others. It all works out in the end.

All those extras that are overwhelming you are just that - extras. I'm not doing cry packs, or monogram cake toppers or petal cones. I made programs, but using a word processor is something I do at work all day. I'm not making my invitations, I'm ordering them. Is it more expensive - yes, but I don't have the time to make my own (and FH flat out did not want to do them). There is another thread running around about just not doing stuff that others are doing, and you know what? It's okay not to have those things. It's your wedding, and if you want to do them, and have the time - go for it!! If you find it overwhelming, then don't. No one will look down on you because you don't have menus on the tables, or because they had to use their own tissues at the ceremony!!

don't feel alone!! booking vendors can sometimes seem so easy, because they are the ones doing the work. the 'extras' and such are the things that are dependent on you and that's what they seem so tasking. if something goes wrong with a vendor--you can just blame them. but if you're not happy with something that you do in the 'extras' department--you feel like it will be your fault! but i'm sure you'll be fine. don't feel so overwhelmed...it'll all be come out okay. and there's plenty of ladies here you can bounce ideas off of!!

OMG....i know exactly what you mean. finding a reception site was a piece of cake compared to remembering to buy stamps for some reason! i panic over the tiniest things!

Thanks for making me feel better, girls! I posted this Friday, but I can't check LIWeddings on weekends because my HOME COMPUTER *****!!! (getting a new Dell within a week... can't WAIT!). I go through liweddings withdrawals every weekend! Actually, that new computer was ordered with LIWEDDINGS in mind... and with the DIY projects. I feel a little better about doing some of these DIY projects now that I ordered a new computer. (thank GOD for Dell 12 month interest free!) The one I have now screams at me everytime I want to do ANYTHING... I think that's what scared me so much about printing things myself for the DIY profects. But, now I have the tools... I can use the templates... and I have all of you girls to help me along the way... what else could we ask for? . Thanks, again, for the encouragement! Thank GOD for LIWEDDINGS.com!

I'm just the opposite. I thought all the beginning stuff was so stressful. I'm not doing a lot of little stuff because I refuse to stress myself out. Fortunately my hall does the menus and bathroom baskets. I'm not doing programs, slipper baskets, cry packets, etc. Honestly, right now I feel like I barely have anything left to do.

I feel the same way, BUT I find it fun, too. I'm not doing ALL the extras, like I'm NOT doing cry packs, slipper baskets, OOT baskets, bathroom baskets... But I am doing programs, menus and some crafty things for decorations. Everyone thought I was starting so early, but I'm doing a few little things here and there because it will be here in no time!!

I agree, the little stuff is the most stressful. On my wedding day I looked at all the little things I was making a big deal about and people didn't even notice. I wasted all my time and energy for nothing

yeah... every now and then I get a stress attack.... other than that I am alright I think.... we are doing cd favors.. that's got me a little stressed...
