Italy and Greece HELP

Italy and Greece HELP

Hi Ladies!!! So DH and I did not go on our honeymoon right away due to our schedules. SO we will be going away to Italy and Greece this summer. We don't know where to start. I'm gonna buy some books about each, but any help you could give us is reallyl appreciated. What places do we absolutely have to see in Italy and Greece and the most economical way to do it. We have hotel covered, so that's not a problem no matter where we go.

I do know we plan on flying in to Rome.

Hi there, I went to Italy recently and we are going to greece on our honey. In Italy I think that Rome and Venice are a most (not so much on florence) and in Italy I have heard all the best about Athens, Crete, Santorini, and Mykonos! Good luck, let me know if you need any more help with Greece as I just planned a bunch!

Oh thanks so much. We've heard to defintiely do Rome and Venice. I guess we either need to choose the country side of Italy or the coast. I hear the Almafi coast is gorgeous. I'm just worried we'll be running around everywhere so we need to narrow it down so we can enjoy ourselves

Re: Italy and Greece HELP

If you are going to make it to sicily, you have to go to Lo Zingro, it is a beach off a mountain you have to actually walk through the mountain to get to the beach!

Well we are flying into Rome, then trying to pick about 3 cities to see the week and a half we'll be there. then we're making our way over to greece...but I'm sure there are cities we can pass by on the way to the major ones we want to hit

i'm doing rome, venice, florence and hopefully a day trip to siena and wine country. also the greek islands (via a cruise).

I would say 2 nights TOPS in venice - I think florence is beautiful and most people I know prefer it over venice, they aren't far from each other so if you can do both. florence is definitely worth seeing.

the amalfi coast is GORGEOUS. you can get there pretty easily from Rome - train to sorrento and bus up the coast. it's a great honeymoon spot; I would love to take fh but i went there years ago and I think i should save that for another time since he's never been to europe, so we're doing the major cities.

i also really wanted to do portofino or cinque terre but i don't think we have enough time.

For our HM we are doing 2 nights Venice, 4 nights in Florence and 4 nights in Rome. I recommend going to Florence as your third city because you can do day trips to Pisa (so you can take that pic with the tower lol) and to Tuscany. There is a lot to see in Florence too. If you don't want to do the touristy thing then I'd recommend somewhere on the coast like Cinque Terre which is on the Riviera.

just an FYI, southern italy... (tuscany and south from there, which would include rome and sicily, etc. etc. w ill be hot as H E LL in the summer. ... just something to consider.

Venice is beautiful, but a complete tourist trap. a day there is plenty.

DH's family has a house in the northern country side... we love it... so quiet and cool in the summer. in fact, the southern italians go up there for vacation because it's so hot where they're from in the summer.

I recommend:
Assissi
Florence
Venice

I also know a lot in northern Italy.

We are going to Mykonos, Santorini and Athens for our honeymoon. We obviously have not gone yet, but I've heard that Santorini is a 'must' in Greece.

I've found tripadvisor.com to be very helpful. Good luck!

here's something to think about...in Italy, you can take a Superfast ferry from Brindisi to the Greek island of Cephalonia (which is where I'm from)...it's the closest island to Italy, and I think the ferry is only a couple of hours at most. You can stay in Cephalonia for a couple of days (it's a huge island, rent a car and travel all around it, it's gorgeous!), then take the ferry/bus (or fly) to Athens, stay there 2 or 3 days, then fly out of Athens.
