It's even worse than yesterday

Original post by michele31

Okay, I was almost going to leave my pity party, even though I miss my breakfast cereal and I called my numbers into the doctor. I have to go TODAY to learn about insilin
She is going to start me on overnight first only, but she said that there is a good chance I will need another shot mid-day. My nighttime (dinner) numbers are not bad because our bodies have less prego hormones in them at night.

And anyone who says Slenda tastes just like sugar is crazy....it has an after taste just like all the other pretend sweetners out there....
So you are all invited to my pity party- which will now last longer than I had hoped.

(And yes, I am one of those glass half empty kinda people)

Michelle, it's really been a tough ride for you. Sending you hugs and support. The needles will be hard at first, but hopefully you will get used to them quickly. I wonder if there is a support group out there for moms with GD. That might be helpful for you- what about at Stony Brook or even online? Just for tips with how to deal.

I hope you are doing okay today, Michele....I am sorry this is all taking away from you enjoying your pregnancy. But, I am CERTAIN that Motherhood will treat you much better than pregnancy has! Hang in there, hon...

I am glad they told you that you are not expected to be 'perfect' about the diet ALL the time. Even I need a little 'taste' of something forbidden now and then...as long as you are not over-doing it, you'll be fine.

Splenda is ALOT better than SweetnLow or Equal when it comes to 'after taste'....it does not taste just like sugar, but IMO, it's better than nothing at all in your coffee/tea.

Re: It's even worse than yesterday

My update:
I just got back from the midwife. I gained a bit more than I had hoped- but we knew that would happen because of the blood sugar problems.
The good news is that the baby is in the correct position now and I am still measuring a tab below average so that most likely means the baby is not growing too big too quickly. I have an u/s appt for Thursday for them to confirm the baby's size.

The doctor also told me to get my hospital bag ready over the next few weeks because she feels the baby will come early. I am bascially running out of room for him/her inside. She thinks around 37 weeks or so. But of course, only the baby can decide that. And she doesn't want me stressed out over trying to get things done when I start to get even more uncomfortable.

My sugar levels are still not under control. The diabete's doctor said that it would take a few days of trying different doses for it to work itself out. The shots are really difficult for me and the diet is very restrictive (even the midwife said that and she is all for diet plans) so it is getting very difficult for me. I also will have to start non-stress tests 2X per week starting at 33 weeks. So I might stop working earlier than I had thoughts. Thank God I have the insurance that will pay me when and if I have to go out early.

Thanks again for the support. It means a lot to me.

Michele so sorry about the difficult time you are having. What great news though that the baby is growing at the right size and is in the right position. On the bright side sounds like the baby is coming soon...hang in there

Michele...I'm so sorry about the problems that you are having...but just think of the wonderful little baby you have...its birthday will be here soon!!!!

I'm a fan of splenda...its not exactly sugar...and I usually put a little less in thatn what the recipe calls for (b/c of the bit of an aftertaste) but I think it is 10 times better than sweet and low

hang in there

Michele one word of advice about the early delivery, don't get your hopes up about an early delivery. I was told the same thing and I think that is why I am so anxious now. Cheer up and I send you plenty of

Another shot was added before dinner Do the words I AM DONE meaning anything?

Last night I learned that accupuncture can help you deliver early so I am going to investigate that further. I will eggplant, walk miles (on crutches if I have to) and do whatever else I need to. Plus there are other natural ways to do promote early labor. I know having 'relations' also helps....Stacey- maybe a romantic night will help?

I haven't felt romantic in months but if that is what will get this over with for me, come that time, fine by me....heck..it is nicer than all these shots.

My EDD is 11/29..
