my wedding is in 66 days. and yes i am very excited... but the other night, i was watching father of the bride. a movie i've seen dozens of times. but during the scene where annie is getting married and her father starts talking about her leaving and never seeing her in her pajamas in the morning again and so on... i started getting very emotional. in a way i had never before. i felt the urge to go upstairs and just sit with my dad. he was asleep and my mom was watching tv. i sat next to her, put my head in her lap and started crying. she kept asking what was wrong but i just couldn't explain it. i'm so happy my wedding is so close but i feel such a sadness. i'm 25 and maybe it's my immaturity but i can't shake this feeling that i'm going to miss my parents and my little sister and my brother so much. i'm not moving to guam... why am i so emotional lately? does anyone else feel like this? sorry if i'm being random.

Awwwww! Its ok! Im 29 and moved in with FH when I was 27. I cried for like a week when i first moved in. Its a big adjustment but you will adjust and you will be fine! I still go visit my mom and dad once or twice a week.

Ive broken down a few times to her already lol..FH sees me crying and he asks me whats wrong.. i tell him 'im gonna miss my mommy!' i thnk its perfectly normal. Its a big change in your life so your obviously going to have some emotion.

I wouldn't worry about it. I have been living with my FH for the past 2 years and a half now ( I am 26) and sometimes I get a little taken aback when I think about. However, I wouldnt change it for the world!!!!

Re: it's getting emotional now...
You're making a big move, changing your whole life, and that is an emotional thing. You are saying goodbye to being a daughter to become a Wife, and if you plan to have kids, a Mother. I'm sure your parents feel the same mix of emotions that you do, and it's natural. It's a good thing that you realize the gravity of what marriage is, since so many people don't t think past the big party and are, as a result, unprepared for the life change.
Be proud of yourself for taking it to heart, and taking it seriously, and be grateful you have such a warm family you are so close with that you will miss being at home. But rest assured, you will LOVE being your own woman in your own home, with the love of your life, making the same kind of warm loving home for YOUR children.

Re: it's getting emotional now...
awww its okay!
you made me tear up reading that actually.
when i had moved out to live with fh...i cried all the time for like the week before and after...bc i talk to my mother all the time.i felt like i was breaking their hearts when i left.
it will be sad at first but trust me...it brings you closer since you will value the time you have with them more when you see them (if that makes sense)
so chin up!

awww, i know how you feel. i'm sorry you feel that way. it's SO not an immature thing. it's a human thing and you're so normal. it will be difficult, like most changes in your life, but at the same time, it's so exciting. it's such a flood of emotions. you'll be okay. and my relationship with my parents has always been good. in some ways, it got even better. and focus on the fun newness of it all, and make sure you plan for visits. i don't know how far apart you'll live from your parents and family, but you all will make it work. don't be sad (or be sad for too long anyway :o) it will all be okay!

Re: it's getting emotional now...
thank you so much. i've been afraid to talk to my parents about this because i know they are SUPER emotional about it. they are very very young and it took a lot of adjusting on all our parts. none of us were ready to let go and i feel they are finally in a good place and i dont want to stir things up. i only wish i had found you guys 2 yrs ago when we first got engaged and i went through the postponement, the cancellation, the big breakup and then the reconciliation. it was a hard time for me and no one around me really understood. i feel like you guys would have though. so thank you so much. it makes me feel better to know it's not immature to feel this way and there are more people who feel it as well.

I wish I could relate more. . .
Did you go away to school when you went to college? I think that helped this transition between single girl living with mommy and daddy to single girl living on her own to engaged woman living with her fiance. I had the experience of living 'on my own' so my parents and I weren't really emotional about this change. Sure, I wish FH and I lived a little closer to home since I don't get to see my parents and younger siblings nearly as often as I should, but it gets easier over time. Trust me.

Re: it's getting emotional now...
okay how 'bout this:
crying during father of the bride, one of the funniest and happiest movies ever, that i've seen so many times i can recite it? the SAME thing happened to me... throughout the ENTIRE movie! FH thought i was losing my mind... he's like, 'i don't get it... why are you crying??'
i think that for a second he thought i was getting cold feet, but it's far from that. it's just the emotion of it all... i both went away to college and have lived on my own for the majority of my adult life, so i don't think it really has everything to do with that. it's just a huge lifestyle change, and it's a bittersweet time.
(... and your monthly pal IS prob playing a role to some extent - LOL)

Re: it's getting emotional now...
I think it makes natural sense to mourn part of your life. . it is natural to be sad that your relationship with family will change, and no it won't be the same but think how it can also move to a different level, you can relate to your mom as a wife, possibly as a mother, so the sadness is okay, it means that you had a great childhood. ..
