It's time for suggest a hall once again!

Original post by MrHostility

I'll list all the places I have been, you list a place I should go. The only rules are I have 100 people, and it has to be under $110 a plate w/ tax and tip. It would likely be in Sept-December, and has to be at night. Pref Sat, Fri, Sun, in that order. Also, I really am not a fan of old styling, like Westbury Manor, for example. We're more into stuff like Villa Lombardi, Jericho Terrace, Larkfield...

Nassau:
Coral House - Not us
Crest Hollow CC - Prom was there, I'd like elsewhere
Fox Hollow - Was a top choice, a few issues though
Jericho Terrace - Was a top choice, a few issues
Leonard's - Nice, but almost too much
Lido Golf - Heard bad stuff
Manor East - Not us, at all
North Ritz - Minimum issues
Riviera - Lady is a b**** to deal with
Sand Castle - FW did not like it, I thought it was ok
Milleridge - Cocktail and Dinner same room....no
Westbury Manor - Not my style at all
Woodbury CC - Eh
Floral Terrace - Minimum people issue

Suffolk:
Atlantica - Minimum and Price
Beach Club - Heard horrible things, enough to say no
Chateu La Mer - Not for us
Eastwind - FW didn't like it at all, I thought it was ok
Georgios - Minimum issues
Larkfield Manor - One of the top choices, small cocktail room
Majestic Gardens - Been there, not overly impressed, but nice
Mediterranean Manor - Not us
The Meadow Club - Cocktail room was eh...
Thatched Cottage - Heard it might go under
Villa Lombardi - Top choice, issues with minimums
Watermill - Cousin married here, FW dislikes it
Windows On The Lake - Look at Beach Club comment

I know I'm a pain in the ass with this stuff at this point, but I'm struggling here.

Places we will likley visit, Chateu Briand, Swan Club...

not sure what your taste is but the knights of columbus in oceanside holds weddings. they don't have a cocktail room (the use the same room for both) but guests (i think, check) can hang out in the lounge after the wedding if they want to and the food is not bad at all.
they are on kenneth pl. off of atlantic ave in oceanside.

ps: def. check out swan club and roslyn cc if you haven't already. there's a place in suffolk called bavarian inn or bavarian gardens...can't remember the name per se but my friend worked there and so I know they do weddings. Never been there so can't tell you what it's like. I assume it's fine or she wouldnt have worked there for as long as she did. It's in Ronkonkoma.
And....Sterling Manor in Bethpage. Used to be Imperial Manor.

I am biased towards Larkfield Manor...but then again I am using the big CH room and patio area.

Try
LaGrange Inn - I really liked the room and the banquet manager. The room was so bright, but foyer was dark and kind of drab to me. For a Sat night, they quoted $60pp plus tax and gratuity, but I was guaranteeing 220. They can break up the rooms for smaller parties.

ETA: Have you tried any hotels? LI Marriott, Huntington Hilton, Holiday Inn Plainview

also just because you heard bad things about a place doesn't mean you should not even go.

my friend told me she got food poisoning twice at the coral house and NOT to go there.

everyone that has used them on here rave about them. she's the only one i've heard say she had that happen to her.

i wish i went there anyway. i think it's a nice place and for our budget it would have worked. but i didn't. i'm happy with verdi's.

I think it is great you are so involved. God, i can't believe how many places you've seen- Wow! And you are in such good humor!

Did you get one of those Locations magazines - in the ? they have all the LI hall listings. Maybe they will have something we've missed (god forbid lol)...

I've heard about Sans Souci from other people here, that may suit you? You can probably get a good deal at the Vineyard Caterers your time of year, if you are willing to venture all the way out east..

Good Luck!

Ahh, that's what happened to it. I know 1 person her got married there a few years ago, and I used to live near there, and I was wondering why I hadn't heard of it lately, and couldn't find it online.

Don't know whay its like now. Way back, people from my HS used to work there, but I've never been there.

It Bavarian Inn and its owned by the same people who own WOTL and Beach Club.

Steph: I was in a wedding in that room in May! It was gorgeous! And the food was really good! Its not my style but overall it was one of the best weddings! FI still drools when talking about the food there!!

All the places you are strongly considering sound nice. I haven't been to any of them except Villa Lombardis. It seems the brides on here who are using or have used Fox Hollow, Jericho Terrace and Larkfields really like them. Villa Lombardi's is really pretty and the food is great. I don't know what their smaller room is like. What were the issues with them?

Hmmm.... I think you've named almost every site on LI!! JK!!

Well here's a couple more:

Roslyn Claremont Hotel
Crescent Beach Club - Bayville
Sans Souci
Vanderbilt
15th & West

I'm not 100% sure on these places' prices but I figure that they are definitely within your budget for a Friday or Sunday.

Astoria World Manor (if you don't mind going as far as Queens)
AND, I second Floral Terrace - Floral Park.

definetely check out Chateau Briand.....they should be able to accomodate you in the smaller room downstairs. Defientely check out Floral Terrace, sounds like it'd be your style! It's owned by the Sand Castle owners but doesn't look like it. IMO, Swan Club kinda has the WESTBURY MANOR feel to it, so you might not want to waste your time if that is not your taste. What about George Washington Manor? They hold small affairs. It's not glitz & glamour @ all, but it's quaint & affordable.

I don't have any to add..Just wanted to let you know that fh and I are having our reception at Floral Terrace and for a Sunday night in May, the min. is 150. For a Saturday, I think it's 200.

Good Luck

As far as I know, Villa only has 2 rooms, and they essentially the same.(the one we would like has the french doors) The issue with Villa is even Sunday night is a 120 minimum. I loved the place, I thought it was great. It was tough hearing the minimums were higher than we hoped. We really wanted at least Friday, but that's 150 and we'd never hit that.

Thank you! It's exactly these comments I need to help me not waste anymore time.

Thats tough. What places are willing to work with you on the minimums? I wish I knew more about this sorry!

Re: It's time for suggest a hall once again!

what about John Anthony's in Babylon. My aunt had a small second wedding there years ago and they accomodated her, not in the main ballroom but another one that was really pretty. Also, check out the Snapper Inn in Suffolk. Not sure what town--sorry
also, i haven't been there in ages, but I hear they recently renovated the Seaford Knights of Columbus Hall.....it's supossedely really nice--I know by the name of it, it doesn't sound it, but ya never know---it's definetely affordable. check it out!

also, holbrook country club & Port Jeff CC, West Sayville CC

sorry i keep editing as I think of more!
