It's time for suggest a hall once again!

Original post by MrHostility

I'll list all the places I have been, you list a place I should go. The only rules are I have 100 people, and it has to be under $110 a plate w/ tax and tip. It would likely be in Sept-December, and has to be at night. Pref Sat, Fri, Sun, in that order. Also, I really am not a fan of old styling, like Westbury Manor, for example. We're more into stuff like Villa Lombardi, Jericho Terrace, Larkfield...

Nassau:
Coral House - Not us
Crest Hollow CC - Prom was there, I'd like elsewhere
Fox Hollow - Was a top choice, a few issues though
Jericho Terrace - Was a top choice, a few issues
Leonard's - Nice, but almost too much
Lido Golf - Heard bad stuff
Manor East - Not us, at all
North Ritz - Minimum issues
Riviera - Lady is a b**** to deal with
Sand Castle - FW did not like it, I thought it was ok
Milleridge - Cocktail and Dinner same room....no
Westbury Manor - Not my style at all
Woodbury CC - Eh
Floral Terrace - Minimum people issue

Suffolk:
Atlantica - Minimum and Price
Beach Club - Heard horrible things, enough to say no
Chateu La Mer - Not for us
Eastwind - FW didn't like it at all, I thought it was ok
Georgios - Minimum issues
Larkfield Manor - One of the top choices, small cocktail room
Majestic Gardens - Been there, not overly impressed, but nice
Mediterranean Manor - Not us
The Meadow Club - Cocktail room was eh...
Thatched Cottage - Heard it might go under
Villa Lombardi - Top choice, issues with minimums
Watermill - Cousin married here, FW dislikes it
Windows On The Lake - Look at Beach Club comment

I know I'm a pain in the ass with this stuff at this point, but I'm struggling here.

Places we will likley visit, Chateu Briand, Swan Club...

Wow, what a man-going to all these places!! You are really lucky to have the time to do this. We went to 8 places and could take no more. What I thought (my opinion) is that the Swan Club needs a major facelift-the room is toooooooooooo small and forget the bridal suite. I was completely turned off by the management there and the fact that you could have a sweet sixteen going on at the same time of your wedding really did it for me.

As far as the Crescent Beach Club--too expensive and I was not that impressed by it. They are supposedly renovating the place, but for that kind of money I would have my wedding at the Garden City Hotel or the Ohkea Castle.

Chateau Briand--I have difficulty with it being right off Old Country Road and next to the DSW shoe store.

Soooooo.... my suggestions would be the Port Jefferson Country Club. Good Luck!

I believe from what I heard Land's End would be ou t of my price range. As far Port Jeff CC, my brother was married there actually. The roof was leaking, and making puddles all over the floor. There solution was to hang plants where the leaks were. Which was fine until the plants were saturated and the water started dripping from the pots. I'm pretty turned off on that place at this point, though I heard Lombardi runs is now.

I think I got her to agree to give Watermill a chance, so we'll probably try there. Also Cheatu Briand.

if one of your only problem with the milridge was the same rooms - perhaps try George Washington Manor - they are owned by the same people - and are for smaller weddings and have different rooms - my friedn is getting married there in july and it is in your price range

also, you could look at the harbour club in huntington - i am biased though because i am getting married there - now that the whole family fighting is settled ------ and it is a beautiful waterfront setting and we only have to guarantee 100 people

Check out Leonards of Great Neck. It's defintely your style and maybe not the big room but FH's cousin had the small room downstairs on a Saturday night in May and they had about 100/115 people.

That's on my 'been there list', but thanks. I liked it, but something about it seemed over the top.

Villas did aquire PJCC I think in like August, they are going to be doing major renovations shortly! You may want to consider it! Its going to have the feel of Villas as I have heard!

Douglaston Manor is getting renovated this winter along with a Lessings property, Timberpoint. I know both are extremely reasonable.

The GEORGE WASHINGTON MANOR was very pretty, older, simple style though. But the room is all windows, very pretty. They have a nice menu and the room is for 90-135 and in your price range.

We chose the Fox Hollow because we wound up with around 200 guests, and were able to have the big, Garden Terrace Room with adjoining bridal suite, not the one upstairs.

But you should definitely check it out.

The Swan Club...

I don't think you'll need to look further!

Re: It's time for suggest a hall once again!

and i have to admit that i am getting married at the watermill - but when my FH suggested it - I was completely against the place at first! not sure why - but i had a bad feeling about it.....
then i finally said ok, i'll check it out...and i loved it and am getting married there now....
so, i guess what i'm trying to say is that even though you are visiting a lot of places already - check out those that you even think you would be against.....you never know. something might strike your fancy when you least expect it!
although, i'm not sure if the watermill is your taste either....it's kind of old fashioned looking and you seem to go for more modern looks.....

one last thing...i had a strange feeling about frank at larkfield also not sure what it was

I would say Watermill would have been in my top three after Land's End and East Wind. It has beautiful grounds, good food and nice rooms.

Cheatu Briand was really really nice. Everyone there seemed like they would really go out of the way to help you, and make it a perfect day. However, FW doesn't really see the room being romantic enough. But it's certainly high in the running, I'd like to see it at night when there isn't so much light in it.

Timothy showed us around, and he seems like a nice guy. He even bought us some dessert to sample, and it was very very good. (cheese cake w/ raspberry sauce and Fruit tart...I think) I would definately tell anyone to give it a try who is looking for somewhere.

GET CREATIVE. What does she think makes it 'not romantic' (I have never been there so I don't know what it looks like)? If you like everything else about the place, then MAKE the room romantic yourself with decorations, candles, lighting, etc...

MissM:
I am really intrigued by The Met in Glen Cove. What is the minimum guarantee and $$/person? I am having a small wedding (about 60).. will they do that?

Thanks!
