FMIL had a fight with FH over our wedding date last night. 4/20 apparently is something else besides our anniversairy, it is also Hitler's B-day (who knew) so she wanted us to change our date.
Now we did not choose the date for any other reason then the fact that it is the day we met and had our first date. I had heard all the jokes already about national pot smoking day, but this is definetly a new one. For goodness sakes, what is she thinking I mean I seriously had no idea.

April 20th is my nephew's bday too and I never knew until a couple of years ago that it was also Hitler's bday - from now on April 20th will be known as my nephew's bday and your wedding and that's it!!

lol...Thats one of the funniest things i have EVER heard. what does she think u are trying to do? dose she have any idea how many people have gotten married on that date not haveing any clue that it was Hitler's Bday? Those wedding were fine, the Gestapo wasnt part of the bridal party or anything....lol.Just brush it off hun and cintinue planning what u want when u want it.

You've got to be kidding me! That's crazy! Don't listen to her. There have been so many people that have gotten married on that day AND other days with 'other meanings'. It is now YOUR wedding day anniversary and nothing else! And of course the anniversary of your first date!

April 20th is my b-day....so I have known for years it's Hitler's b-day......but is anyone else really going to be sitting at your wedding going 'hey...can you beleive they are getting married on Hitler's b-day?????' If you chose 9-11 then I could understand...good luck...if the date has meaning to you keep it!!! Don't let others ruin what is important to you...

I never knew that it was Hitler's b-day until recently... I don't think it's anything most people even THINK about... but hey, you could be having it on the april 19th which is my bday, the Oklahoma bombing and the Waco thing in Texas with that cult.... so things are looking up for you! (although Columbine happened on that day... they chose the 20th because it was Hitler's bday...

I've learned to apply to FMIL disagreements something my dad (Archie Bunker type - NOT a azzhat, though!) always said: 'Don't mud wrestle with a pig. You end up dirty, and it makes the pig mad.'
I do not mean to insinuate that anyone is a pig, but you get the analogy. I have had my share of FMIL issues, surprisingly since we have been engaged, and not once in the 5+ years we've been together, and I am trying really hard to let it all roll. Deep breaths!!!

heck I didn't know, learned that today! and I didn't realize the other reason about the day until someone else pointed it out to me this year. Got to move this rock I live under!
Keep your date , changing it for that reason would be so unnecessary!
