Is 800 bucks too much to spend on invitations? These are custom designed invites but I'm feeling guilty spending that much. I am really into scrapbooking and a plain invite will leave me disappointed. What should I do?

I think it is a lot but if it is important to you then you should do it.

Candidly, this is one of those questions only you can answer for yourself. For some girls it is the band on which you splurge - some girls spend more on a dress than they ever will again and others would never. So if the invites are important to you and it fits your plans, DO IT.

I agree, we ended up spending way more than we thought we would bc I feel in love with a custom made invitation

It depends. I spent around that much for my invites, but I wouldn't have done so if I didn't think they would be very memorable. In the end, invites wind up in the trash for the most part so there's no point in spending alot of money on them if they aren't going to be so noticeably different from your typical invite, IMO.
Mine were silk scrolls and everyone commented on how different and special they were. A friend of mine spent far less on DIY invites but they were made from such a unique paper and sealed with pressed flowers that they were also very memorable.
Then again, everyone chooses to splurge on something different for their wedding. If this is your thing -- you should go for it regardless!

It really depends. I wouldn't spend that much, but that's just me, I'd rather ut the money toward a top notch photographer. I think the two things you need to think about are
1) The invitation is the FIRST thing people see of your wedding and gives the first indication of the style and level of formality of your big day. Is this expensive invite the only one that will do that job? Also keep in mind that 90% of them will end up in the garbage.
2) What will you have to give up to get the expensive invites? Will it mean giving up the swarovski tiara you always dreamed of, having low ceterpieces instead of high, skimping on favors? Which is more important?
it's your decision to make and only yours. Good Luck!

I spent about that much and I loved my invitations. You have to be happy with what you get. You only get married once.
