thanks for all your help with my last Ivory dress question...but a new prob is here...the tux for my fiance...I told the tux place that I was wearing a very light ivory and he said my fiance should too ....only problem is that the color that they showed me is almost a yellowish cream color...should I call and change it to white?

my dress was ivory. DH wore black tux, white shirt, ivoy vest and tie. I looked great.

I have a champagne color dress. We went to Tuxedo Park in Carle Place and the sales woman made me bring in a swatch of dress. She matched it to the vest and tie FH is wearing. She also put him in a pale ivory shirt instead of stark white.

I know it's popular on this board to match ivory shirts wth ivory dresses, but I'm going to dissent. I think the slivers of ivory peeking up from lapels, out from under jacket sleeves, etc. makes the shirt, not the bride's dress, look dingy. (Fear of the wedding dress looking dingy against white shirts is often the justification for having ivory shirts.)
If a bride is wearing ivory and I happen to notice, I notice it as ivory, period, and don't use it as a baseline against other fabrics. I wore an ivory dress and my DH wore a white shirt. I don't have my professional pics yet, but in my uncle's photos (he is a semi-pro photog), the difference isn't noticeable.
FWIW, the posters on The Knot are in favor of white shirts even if the bride's dress is ivory.

I had an ivory dress, DH wore a black suit with an ivory shirt, black vest, and a champagne colored tie to match the detail on the side of my dress. Here's a pic

thank you everyone....well now I finally have a swatch of my dress so I think I will bring it in today and show them that the ivory they picked out is wayyyyyy tooo much....I too think my best bet is white shirt,ivory tie and vest.

I had the same issue because my dress is light ivory and next to traditional ivory it looks white. I HATED the ivory shirts they ahd at the rental place because they looked dirty like they were soaked in sweat stains YUCK! So what we did was went with the traditional black suit with white shirt, but then the vest and tie are this bisque color; in the ivory family but its almosta soft goldy taupe color-AFTERHOURS has it. I put a piece of ym dress beside it an dit looks really good. SO you get the softer look but it doesn't clash with your dress because its in the same family but not trying to be the same color. The groomsmen and dads are in the same tux but basic black.
