I did not give the gratuity upfront, and after the service I received, I did not give a gratuity at all. I did tip the delivery guy.

Re: Jack and Rose brides
for those who did not pay gratuity up front, what were your reasons?did you end up giving him a gratuity at the end IF you were happy with the service and quality?

Re: Jack and Rose brides
I did not give a gratuity up front but I did tip the two different sets of delivery guys who came to the hotel and to the reception hall. The reason I didn't give a gratuity up front is because I always felt that a gratuity was something that you choose to give afterwards, if you decide you want to - it's for a job that's been done, not in anticipation of the job that is going to happen.
I'll be honest, I also felt a little weird, like the message was being sent like - oh - the job will be so much better if a gratuity is given up front. This is MY opinion, so nobody jump on me. I did love my flowers - but you know what - we also paid a lot of money for them!

Re: Jack and Rose brides
our payment is due this week and i am trying to figure out what we should do. on one hand jack has been wonderful towards us, but on the other i feel gratuity should come after a job well done. uh

Re: Jack and Rose brides
We did not pay the gratuity up front but tipped the delivery guy. Gratuity is something you earn for a completed job IMO.

Re: Jack and Rose brides
I did not pay the gratuity. I thought it was very rude of him to ask for it. I was not overly impressed with my flowers & I was disappointed on the day. I did tip the delivery guy though.

I agree and I did not tip upfront either for the same reason.

Re: Jack and Rose brides
are you guys saying that you did not give a gratuity or that you gave it after the service was performed?

Re: Jack and Rose brides
If you didn't tip the floral designer upfront, when did you give them the tip? Did you give it to the delivery guy to bring back? Or did you go to J&R after you got back from your honeymoon?

Re: Jack and Rose brides
I think I would give something to him now (perhaps 1/2 of what you would give for a job well done) since it sounded like he asked for his tip in advance. You could say something like, 'This is part of your tip because you've given us outstanding service to this point'. Then say that you'll give him another envelope that day...I don't know if it's tacky to do it that way (splitting it up), but a friend of mine did this w/ 1 of her vendors as 'incentive' to do a good job and it seemed to work out well for her.
I don't feel like it's fair to ask for a tip before you've performed the entire service. JMO though. Good luck and please let me know what you decide!!!

Re: Jack and Rose brides
I know you tip the delivery guys, but it is general practice to tip the florist? Looking for opinions so I know whether or not to add him to the list.....

I did not think it was customary to tip the florist either, but Jack & Rose Florist has it mentioned on our final contract.

Re: Jack and Rose brides
When I asked about the gratuity, I was told it was not mandatory - it was just a suggestion. He also mentioned it can be given afterwards.I didn't give it at all. I just tipped the delivery guy at the reception hall.
