Japanese Hair straightening

Japanese Hair straightening

I have had my hair japanese strightened. LOVE IT! I actually did it so that i would have no frizzy hair worries for my wedding day. But, I was wondering I am in a wedding in a month (BM), would my hair hold an up-do or a curl?? Would it ruin the 'stright-ness' or silkiness. It would just be for the one day?

I've been getting my hair jap straightened for well over 3 years now. You'll be fine getting it curled. I know my hair holds the curl the whole night, but I heard some girls get it done and not hold as long as it normally would. I would def. get a trial to see how long it holds up. And, once you wash it again you'll be fine and it'll be exactly the same again.

I have Jap Hair too. Have been getting it done for a few years now. My hair can hold a curl, up to a point. For my brother's wedding I got my hair just in curls, not up or anything, and by the end of the night it was kind of flat. Just get a trial see how that goes, and spray LOTS of hair spray into your hair. It will not ruin your straightness or silkiness though. After you wash it, your hair should go back to the way it was before.

i have had mine for yrs now too. And the curls hold up. i think it's when it's the first month-2 months that the curls don't really hold.

I was actually wondering the same thing. I have been doing the Japanese straightening for years as well but I want to do my hair half up half down and in curls for my wedding but I wasn't sure if it would work. Especially since I have such thick hair.

I love it! My hair never frizzes and always looks smooth and shiny. I get it done in the city at a Japanese salon on 23rd street for only $200.

Re: Japanese Hair straightening

Thanks ladies! I got it straightened about 2 months ago. I absolutely love it. I went from having a frizzy mess basically my whole life to straight no maintenance hair. I think it actually looks more healthy. It is so shiny and silky. I would recommend it to anyone with frizzy hair. I just get out of the shower, comb it and go. I used to spend up to 30 or 40 minutes trying to blow my hair straight only to go outside and have it frizz out of control. I was worried that it might not hold a curl or that the curl would ruin the silkiness of the hair. I think I still cannot believe how low maintenance and beautiful my hair is now that I have it straight. I went to mini-Hair Village in Woodside. I would reccommend them to anyone. They were so nice and answered my questions. The price was right too at $180 ($150 plus a 20% gratuity)

I was actually wondering this as well. I do the straightener every six months and was thinking about doing it a couple weeks before the wedding. I'm having a hair trial this month (I'm doing the straightener about 2 weeks before) so I'll see what happens then I guess.

If you color your hair, you can't do japanese straightening.

I went there for my first time. It came out amazing, I loved it. And they are cheap. The only reason I didn't go back there is because I couldn't stand giving up my entire day to be there, sitting and waiting...when I go to Hayato in NYC, it takes about 3 hours because you are getting personal attention.

that's where i went! it really is an all day process over there. i have had the straightening for 5 yrs now. i actually miss my curls. so it has been growing out. i think after the wedding, i might do it again. it's just so much easier to manage.

Same here. I heard some stories that have prevented me from getting this...

Re: Japanese Hair straightening

I was worried about the same thing, I pretty much did the same post a few months ago. I ended up doing an up-do. The curls did not come undone at all. There were so many bobby pins & so much hairspray that it looked perfect even at the very end. I have a few pics on here.

I was wondering, where did you get your Japense straightening done? I'm looking for a place on LI, Thanks!!
