Hi all, Does anyone know of a place on Long Island that does Japanese staightening? I had it done already but its time for a touchup and I'd prefer not to go back to the place in Woodside. Thanks!

Re: Japanese Hair Straightening Place?
My FMIL has this done, I will ask her where she goes. She has the best hair, and some how she has mastered the salon blow out so her hair is always perfect.

The only place i know of is the one in Woodside. Thats the place I went to because of the price. I've decided that i've put my hair through too much torture and am not going back.
There are a lot of places on the island that do the Brazillian straighting now and its supposed to be a lot better for your hair (along with more expensive and not lasting as long) HTH

Harveys Place in Cedarhurst does it. Cedarhurst is in the 5 Towns very close to Queens. Many people don't know where it is.

Lily Pond in New Hyde Park does it. I know 2 people who get it done there and their hair looks amazing! It's a nail salon with a small hair salon within it...the price is defintely good too!

Re: Japanese Hair Straightening Place?
There's actually a place in Bayside that my hairdresser recommended and they are very reasonably priced. I haven't been there yet, but plan to go after my wedding. Last time I had it done I came into the city. FM me for more details

Re: Japanese Hair Straightening Place?
thanks for the info...I got it done 2 yrs ago in Woodside and my hair was a lil damaged from that so I wouldnt go there again... last year I had it done at a place in Rockville Centre and the product they used was I-straight, which has different strengths and is actually safe for highlighted hair. My hair came our great, not damaged at all and lasted over a year! But they changed owners and arent doing it anymore. I've heard good things about Brazilian, but since it only lasts 3-4 months I'd rather stick to this since I only need it once a year. I'm gong to start calling places today, so keep the names coming if u have them! Thanks again!!

Re: Japanese Hair Straightening Place?
thanks again girls...i was so happy with the way my hair came out with I-straight... it lasted perfectly seriously for a year. the 1st time I had it done was in Woodside and they used Liscio, that damaged my hair a lil and it didnt last quite as long. I'm going to start calling these places and see which use I-straight. I'll let you know. And if anyone else has any places that do straightening that'd be awesome.

Re: Japanese Hair Straightening Place?
i would not reccommend you do the new brazilian one..it leaves your hair is porr condition...the japanese one it pretty good...but if you can find a place that does the CHI transformation system ( penneys does it) that is the best for you hair and in most cases you can get your hair colored right after

Is it true that they use Formaldehyde in Brazilian straightening?
