FH and I went into Zion Lion today in New Hyde Park just for fun and we ended up finding a ketubah. I am excited. It is making things more real for us.
I think that is the best ketubah I have seen yet. We weren't planning on going out to get a special ketubah, we were gonna use the one our temple supplies, but yours is so nice I think I might want to get one!

We were told that to have one designed and hand painted, they could cost thousands which is not an option for us. The print we chose, was about $229 - cheaper online at about $190 but after shipping and the writing of our names, we would rather deal with a person face to face. The saleslady at Zion Lion said they have someone who writes in the English and Hebrew names within the text so that it matches or coordinates with the print that is already there. The prices really do have a range though depending on whether or not something is a limited edition print. Honestly, I was hoping not to spend more than $200 because I would like to have it matted and framed. I have a weakness for judaica and this is the most important piece I will ever have. It is and should be treated with care like any other piece of art as it will last throughout our entire marriage.

I'm willing to spend around $200 too since it will be framed and I always wanted a nice one. Thanks for letting me know..there's a Zion Lion near me.
I love the different kinds and options. We should have a ketubah thread! Um maybe we do now!

A Ketubah is a ceremonial Jewish marriage certificate. It is NOT a license. It is a marriage contract that binds a man and woman in accordance to the laws of Moses and Israel.
A Jewish couple STILL has to get a civil license as administered by the state in which they marry.
