JMO- but if you are going to give your lady a ring on Valentine's day- it should be an e-ring!

Wow- that was a long title!

Ok, Dh and I were out to dinner on Valentines Day-

I noticed this beautiful couple. The man had on a really nice suit and the lady had on a sexy red dress. I mentioned to my husband how great they looked. They ended up being seated near us.

Well at one point his lady went to the bathroom and he put a red ring box on top of her glass. I told Dh- OMG-he may propose.

Well she comes back sees the ring box and her eyes light up tremedously. I am at the edge of my seat. She opens the box and it is a gold ring with a red stone. I wish I had the camera out- the look of disappointment on her face was priceless. She said oh Thank you.

I felt so bad, you could tell she wanted an e -ring. I told Dh if he ever did that to me I would be so pi$$ed.My husband totally thought I was nuts.

Oh well just my opinion.

We were at Westbury manor for Vday and we saw a couple get engaged

But anyway, If he wasn't ready than it wasn't the right time. I feel bad for the girl but I would HATE to get and e-ring on Vday. To me, it's SO not special.

I agree! What a crushing disappointment that would be! Who knows...Maybe he gave her one the next day to throw her off? Games!

God.. what a disappointment.

I agree with you.

Bad timing. Which probably explains why Jim ALWAYS got me necklaces for V-Day if there was jewelry. He did buy me a ring (my birthstone ring) on my birthday but that was WAY early in our relationship, so I had no fear.

Curly, I agree.

I would not want to get engaged on V-day I think it is sooo cheesy.

I totally would not want to have gotten engaged on v-day but I agree, nrvbrd, that if you're going to give a ring, it better have a diamond in the center!

Aw poor girl. When DH and I got engaged, it was on a vacation, and all my friends were convinced he was going to do it- so we go out to dinner the first night there, and he drops his napkin and kneels down to pick it up. I was all,'this is it!!!' and excited-so he gets up, sits down, and proceeds to start eating again I was so mad but I thought i hid my disapointment-later he told me that my face gave it all away though!
He was mean, and did not do it until the third day there, but made up for it w. a great surprise proposal. I would have killed him had he put a ringbox on my plate and it wasnt an e-ring, esp. on VDay. That is just too big of a tease!

OMG...I feel so bad for her. FH and I were so pathetic on V-day nite bc we were looking at couples all nite wondering if any of them would get engaged. We were looking at all of the ladies hands to see if they had a ring....LOL

I know what you are saying. He really got her hopes up. If its not the right time then it isn't the right time BUT if he wanted to get her jewelry couldn't he have gotten her a bracelet or something other than a ring????

OMG how cruel

I'm sure the intention was sweet but never never do that to a woman!!!!!!

I remember for our 3rd anniversary, my FH wanted to get me this sapphire ring I had wanted, but he was afraid to give it to me b/c of the possibly dissappointment when I saw it wasnt an e-ring, so we actually went and bought it together! NOt the most romantic thing but I appreciated the thought alot!!

Poor girl!
I agree if the guy wasnt ready to get engaged he shouldnt but he should have had some consideration for his gf!

JT got distinct instructions to NEVER buy my a ring unless it was an engagement ring If you want something, you need to lay the groundwork

ETA: Maybe he intended that to be her engagement ring, but when he saw the look on her face, he decided, UM NO!

Um.. I think we're being a bit presumptious. We don't know what happened later that night with that couple. In fact, we don't know anything about them. If he was smart, he used that as a diversion.

Now.. Some men are from another planet. Very true. They're clueless Others are not. And are excellent at how they treat their woman. Let's not generalize. I think that's insulting to the good guys.

I see your point- BUT I still would not want that done to me- diversion or not.
