I started a new job last year and I was curious how people are doing this. I have several people I would love to invite. I ordinally said I wasn't going to invite anyone so no one gets hurt. But now I have developed chose relationship for several of the people. What are you gals doing? I have on manager that I am close with. If I invite her do I have to invite all six bosses? Ahh... I don't know what to do! I don't want to insult anyone!

Re: Job invites
We're inviting a few friends from work, but obviously not everyone - there's 40 people in our english department alone! just go with the people you're closest with. if you don't consider them friends outside of work then they probably don't need to be on your guest list.

I am only inviting a few people and I don't care what the other people at work think.

Re: Job invites
Yeah I think you can't go crazy about it. Maybe 1-2 tables if you are close with them? Lucky for me I work in a very small office so I can just invite everyone. They may not all come anyway, but everyone gets along with each other very well. I wouldn't invite anyone I don't feel comfortable inviting, just immediate boss/bosses.

Re: Job invites
I have a job that i work very closely with people, but at the end of the day, if i dont speak to these people outside of work (i.e. call, text, hang out) then they are not getting an invite.
Sorry I work with 300 people, even if i invite the 20 or so that I am close with, +1, thats almost 40 people! nope. Im allowing 2 tables for work, and FH is doing the same.. i mean he is in a freakin firehouse..
Another idea I had for the firehouse, im inviting the guys that I am close with the wives, and then we are putting a sign up sheet in the fire house with 24 spots (two tables) anyone who WANTS to come can put their name on the sheet (+1 or not).. if not.. EFFF em

Re: Job invites
I'm inviting all the administrators from my school (5) and then the teachers I'm friends with maybe 7 more and their significant others
FH is fdny and theres a stupid invite all or no one rule. Idc if they are all invited (60 people in total) but he doesnt want some of them there, so I say screw it and just invite who he really wants (which would be like 10 + dates)

Re: Job invites
I see many people are inviting their bosses. I am not even remotely close with my principal or AP. Do I still need to invite them? Also, there are 4 other English teachers in my department but only 3 of them have husbands, the other isn't dating anyone and neither are the other two teachers I would like to invite. Of all of them, I'm really not close to two of them, one is new. Such a predicament! I don't know what to do. Do I invite all the teachers with a guest or them all alone? This is annoyingin me.

I heard from a friend when she got married that you are supposed to invite your principal even if they don't know you and won't come. I have no idea if this is true since I'm not working as a teach right now. I think she did that though (he didn't come) and only teachers she was friends with were invited and came.

Same with me! I figure if all 5 of them come +1 it's just a table so they can sit together haha.

if they are married you have to invite the spouses. think how you would feel if your husband was invited to a wedding without you...

I would invite them with a +1 bc it would make them more comfortable.
